ignorant kids

theres some kids in my autobody class that have terrible taste in cars. we were working on a 1994 mitsubishi expo, and they kept insisting that its a nice car. "i would throw some 20" rims on it, and a ground effects kit...it even has a sunroof, that would look hot." they werent even joking around, they were completely serious, and tried to tell me that theyd rather have that than my 86 trans am. then they got into this bs about one of the kids cousin with a 96 toyota tercel with a BMW front end conversion with 18" rims, and how its all fast and that it would beat my trans am. no matter what u do it still has a 1.6 liter, whats the deal with kids like this? just because it looks kinda like a BMW doesnt mean its fast or handles like one. and how does a cheap japanese mini suv look nicer than a 3rd gen? is it rap music videos? and why would u spend so much money on TRYING to make a cheap, ugly and slow car be nicer when u can spend very little and buy a cheap nice looking fast 3rd gen f-body? even my winter beater- a 91 mustang 4 banger looks nicer and is faster than those.

You can't call them ignorant just because your taste is different than yours. The fact is that the import crowd is growing, and the import people probably outnumber us. They just think we are ignorant also. As far as imports not being fast, you don't know what it has done to it. Some imports are fast, and until you race it you won't know. SO just go race them and shut them up. No, I have never owned an import, and I don't like them, but the fact is if you don't know about the car, you can't really tell whether your ta would outrun it or not.

This thread has nothing to do with thirdgens. We don't have a BS board, so you should not post any messages like this on our forum at all.

On another note, I'm really growing tired of the "IBTL" crap. No one cares if you're in before the lock, and it is off-topic to boot. It is now official, anyone who posts any kind of "IBTL" message will be placed on probation.

This includes any variation of "IBTL" or any other stupid, useless, database consuming replies to off-topic threads.

Also, we don't need anyone telling the person that they are off-topic. That is not your job, it is the job of moderators and administrators to tell others where they are wrong. We appreciate those that are concerned with keeping the site free of useless non-tech posts, but if you truly want to help you can use the "Report This Post to a Moderator" link that is at the bottom of every post on the the board.
