How do you hollow out a dual-snorkel?

I've seen it done before, I'm just not sure what the process is. I took off my dual snorkel. underneath the filters I take it you gotta hollow it out, but how?

I used a dremmel with a cutting disk. It worked great.

I'm assuming you're asking "how", because if you can't tell what to cut by simply looking at what's under the air cleaners, you'll probably hurt yourself trying anyway.

Hey guys, I have a dremel, and I think I want to cut this crap out under the filters when I put in my K&Ns and air foil. I was just wondering what the point of these plastic pieces are? I mean, why the hell did GM have them there? One more question, after I cut this stuff out, will I have a problem with the filters keeping a tight seal? -89IRO

Baffles to kill the sucking sound. Restrict its power.

Oh, how about if I will have a problem with the filters sealing correctly? Also, will this "sucking" sound be noticable in inside of the car? -89IRO

I'm in little Glendora, you've probably never heard of it. It is next to Azusa, covina, san dimas, etc. Anyways, I just took the dual snorkel thing off of the TPI just to take a look. I noticed on each side of each of the air boxes, there are two tiny bolts hold a plastic piece in, I was wondering if I take these out, would it allow more air to pass through? I hope you know what I'm talking about because I know it sounds confusing. I just need my dad to bring home the small socket set so I can take them out and I'll see from there. To tell you the truth cutting these things to **** doens't sound real fun to me..... -89IRO

its super duper easy. take a sawzall (or just a saw) and cut the plastic baffles out. then take a dremel (or sawzall or saw) and cut holes in the plastic peice that sperates the airdam/radiator are fromt he intake side.

Tonight, I removed the two plastic baffle things under each filter (the things held by two screws each), have not driven it yet so I don't know if I got anything out of it though, I doubt it. I was thinking of drilling like maybe (2) 1/2" holes under each filter in the remaing plastic, I am just really trying to avoid cutting the thing like crazy. Wouldn't this drilling really make a significant amount of more air? Tell me what you think custom. -89IRO
