CustomX has a full custom interior in his IROC and recently swapped in a 4th gen dash and console.

Hopefully he'll catch this thread..

pita. it fits, but you have to do alot of little clearancing, moving, cuting etc to make it fit "factory". Cant just pound and bolt it in or it looks liek ****.

The pad, i cut it to fit, and it didnt fit quite flush so ive been making a fibreglass one. Im about 3/4 way through with it. Just need to quit pickign up other prjects like wheel polishing, carpet replacement, figuring out why my 4th gen window switches dont work etc.....

Zephyr, did you have a problem with the window switch wiring? i keep trying to use the 3rd gen setup and i can only get it to go either up or down, but only when you press on the down side of the botton.

Did you have to end useing the Dakota box for the LS1 tach to work? I think it was you that already had the Dakota box for the speedo and didn't need it and were going to try it for the tach?? Or did you have to buy Dakotas tach box?

Also I know its too late but the fuel guage is computer controlled I found out, on the LS1. But there is a way to remove the actual guage from the custer and replace it with an earlier conventinal GM fuel guage.

Yeah. the tach read wrong, its calibrated for a 4cyl. Used the dakota speedo interface, set it up as per their instructions online for the tach one, and walla, i can know what rpm im really at.

Same product, different stickers.

Thanks

Those things are freaking awesome! Especially Fatal 88's car. I love the flames coming off the door handle on the door panel. Incredible! There is no way I would attempt to do the dash. I do want to do the center console, and maybe the seats. I have an 88 GTA. Will a 4th gen console bolt in without a lot of heavy duty mods? How about the seats? Will they bolt right in? Matt

I had no problem wiring up the switch panel. I just used an ohm meter to check which contacts were were doing what on the stock switch and did the same on the 4th gen ones and wired up the correspondiing wires. I just couldn't get the power mirror control to work right.

Easily. Just remove the old door panel, put this one on and don't close the door.
I abandoned the door panel project a long time ago. Will do it when I eventually get a 4th gen dash (I am still fond of the stock one).

Oh, I may still have the wiring of the 4th gen switches in my, if I do, I'll let you know what wire goes where for easy hook up.
Also, when it's wired up, you can't have the 3rd gen and 4th gen switches plugged in at the same time, doing that and activating the 3rd gen switch will cause a short.

I have both of my switch panels for sale if you need them. The drivers side has both windows, power locks and the power mirror control, the passenger one only has window and locks.
Email me an offer on them.
And if it isn't raining outside tomorrow, I'll go check on the wiring since I need to figure out how to mount an auto shifter on my car since it was a manual.

im not in the market for the switch panels. I have the switches mounted in the dash where the traction control/fog light switches woudl have been.

Well i spent one day ripping all the old stuff out, re mounting the electronics to the heater box area, test fitting, bending the old mounts etc

Next day i had the dash and console in.

Worked on the wiring for several days, whilst fine tuning the fit of everything to make sure it sits flush and looks factory.

I know this isn't a 3rd gen but it is a really cool swap to put a 4th gen dash into.4th gen dash into a fiero

Here is another.10 page link going through everything
Page 4 is where they start getting into the firebird dash
