Those are the exact subs I plan on getting, the Alpine Type-R 12's. Are you happy with them?

they are great, I work for a place that sells em, so i got a good deal on them too, but well worth the cash, i dunno if i needed two tho, and i dont know if i needed 12s... they are really powerful, 10s might have been better.

I'm kinda a bass-head so they'd probably work out nicely for me. Especially when I listen to my rap and techno/trance music.

That's what kinda sucks, I listen to so many different types of music that I'm always wanting to adjust my levels... when I'm listening to techno or hip-hop I want un-naturally emphasized pounding bass. When I'm listening to hard rock or something else, I want accurate, clean bass that isn't muddy. Oh well.

Ah yes, definitely have to be careful of that. I plan on making the top plate of my box go across the entire trunk space so that everything is completely flush with no seams, and then I'll mount the amp on top of that.

i figured they wouldnt and it would sound like crap, but supprisingly its a good ammount under there, its just a bezzel over it, so its not a full box... im considering puttin fiberglass under it, but i dunno if i wanna lose that airspace

Oh, you mean that isn't a box, it's just a plate holding the subs?

I'd be willing to bet that setup would sound 10x better in a sealed box. Of course if you think you've got too much bass now.....

actually when its mounted that low, the diff between it and a wood box down there is almost nothing... that compartment is actually really well sealed... but i may get a fiberglass box, this is kinda a temporary thing.... but i like it so i dunno if i need to change it... only cost me 30 bucks anyways

Yeah it does look pretty sealed off....

Just don't do what the idiot that owned my car before me did, and squirt sillicone sealant all over the STOCK CARPET to seal his "box".

I need to run the wires right, that pic was right after i put it in, so it was a mess.. its a lil cleaner now, but im still moving stuff around.. and as far as the GTA symbol, I kinda like it, but i wouldnt mind debadging the car... i know u guys prolly dont like that idea, but my buddy has an 85 gta thats completely debadged and it looks sweet.. i just gotta get time to take off the emblems

I have about the same box set up. But mine is a fully sealed box. I used fiberglass. BTW those look real good in there. Like the car too.

yeah i agree,

you need to put them in a box without ports..the sound and bass is totally amazing...unless../.like was mentioned...you dont like bass..

so you are happy with the alpines huh...im partial to the jls..but always have..

heres my setup with 3 10inch jls (wos) i hit 145db..and that was with the left gain all the way down so...running off like 1.5 subs..
my amp is the zapco 350, its killer

and i do like bass, if u heard my car u would know wut i mean by too much bass

He hit a 145 with those "Cheap Subs", the WO's are really nice subs for the money. But I'm partial to JL also, always have been.

Anyways, looks like a nice install. Only thing I would have done is make an Amp rack, not really a big deal, but if you get another amp, it would make everything look alot cleaner. I put my little amp in the cargo box, cant see a thing.

I had a pair of JL 12w6s in my old T-Bird SC and they hit awesome. In my Camaro I have 2 12" Crankenstein High Voltage comps. and they hit crazy hard too. I am changing to Alpine Type Rs cause I cracked the cone on one of the Cranks( they are lifetime guaranteed but A&B Sound doesnt sell them anymore). Type Rs are sweet subs and w0s really cant compare. We need to compare w6s with Type Rs

w6's blow type R's outta the water, but u need one hell of an amp to power two of them... I was considering W3's instead of type R's, they do sound a lot better, but the w0's are nowhere near the type R's

What you think they would sound like in a trunk fully dynomatted?? I am thinking about putting the Type R's in my Tbird Turbo coupe right now. I listen to just about every type of music...so i was deciding btwn 12's and 10's...prob will go wit the 12's tho...If I dont go with the Type R's I wana go with the Infinity Perfects. My tbird has a fully dynomatted trunk...and has the spray dynomat stuff in it as well. Was an audio show car...so Im not sure what Im doin yet.
