I think it is funny the way third gens are often the most neglected of any car, dented and scratched with bad paint and knocking engines. But on the other end of the spectrum, when someone fixes them up, they are proabably some of the nicest cars I have ever seen.

Riggs, is that your ride? If so, let's see some more pic of that bad mo! The orange is a little electric but the whole package is HOT if you ask me! I dig... I dig very much. Oh yeah, the Berlinetta was a monster TURD, it looked terrible, and the features were... odd?

Yeah, the 3rdgens did get a lot of disrespect!! I couldn't believe what a friend of mine told me! She was at a bacheloret (however thats spelled) party and the stripper they had showed up she said was fugly beyond recognition and they were cracking jokes about him. One of the jokes she remembered was one of them saying "yeah, I bet he pulled up in a 90' Camaro too.." which I took to heart, cuz thats what I own!
(funny, the 90' Camaro's were the rarest year for Camaro, too!) She had no idea what year my car was...go figure...
But, in my opinion, 3rdgen was just not the generation for Firebirds. Granted I have seen some of the most stunning 3rdgen Firebirds, but if your gonna get one go with a late 4th gen or ANY 2nd gen, those are my fav. Now on the note of the Camaro...3rdgen was time to shine! Yeah, berlinetta was a slap in the face, but other than that they are things of beauty! I am defenetly partial to late models, though. 87 and up. Love 90's (of course), love 91-92's. It may be just me, but when you get in front of the car and look at it on an angle, your knees just start to get weak. Anywho, there's my 2 cents....

I agree 100%.....I especially get that feeling when looknig at the 91 and 91 Z28's..... Around here.....91 and 92's are very rare....I see 85-90 Irocs/Z28's/RS's & 82/84 Z28's all the time....I like them..but..the looks of them get old around here VERY quick..... the 91 and 92 Z28's just stand out...the highrise spoiler..the ground effects....and the power blisters..... JMO
Berlinetta's had to be the low point, but I love the look of the IROC Camaro's, which is what I was looking for when I bought my T/A. I couldn't find an IROC in decent shape for a daily driver so I thought I'd check out this 92 T/A just to compare.
I never really liked the look of the 91-92 nose and thought it was there to help transition the look to the 4th gens. But the T/A was really clean and ran good and I couldn't pass it up. Now that I've owned it for a couple years the 91-92 style nose looks normal to me now and the old traditional front looks cut-off flat, weird.
I'd still like to have an IROC some day. I don't really care for the look of the 91-92 Z28's with the high wing and blister hood, Chevy shoulda quit while they were ahead stuck to the IROC. Too bad IROC switched to Dodge, but good to see that they did wake up and came back to F-bodys even if it's the T/A's, so thats cool.

I'm pretty happy with my 86 sport coupe (V8) :-)
.
I agree with the general feeling here, any of the years / models can look good, with the right treatment.

I LOVE the 85-90 style Trans Am's, especially the GTA style noses and wings. Although, I have an 83, I am trying to retrofit a wing and such on there. I will post pics later.

My biggest thing about the 91-92 Firebirds as most everyone has been saying is the nose on the thing. The gfx, as the picture above depics wonderfully for me, (nothing personal, that is a sweet car man) is that they don't come all the way to the front. If they did, those cars would be like twice as sweet! When they changed the way the nose looked they shouldn't have made that sacrafice....anyone agree? (or at least get what I'm saying?)
Ohh yeah, could defenetly go without the spoke rims too...

compared to the formula, the ground effects continue forward, but not all the way around the nose. any artist want to depict what it might look like if they did go all the way around?

Hey chevkid, my post got cut off on the last page but I was asking about your wing and that roof also. Is that a firebird wing? And where did you (or your mom?!) get that top from?
