Questionable taillight mods - Opinions wanted?
I came up with some ideas in Photoshop for my base taillights. I like them, except for the amber sections. I like how these look in Photoshop format, but not quite sure how they would look in real life.

I voted 1, I'd say 1 or 4, but any would be interesting to see and neat if done right.

I always liked number 1. I did the other 3 to see how they looked. I did 2 because I love quad circular lights like on old Vettes and Ferraris. I did 3 because I like the late model RX-7 tails and tried to mimick something like it.
I think I will try 1. I love how the lights look at night, but that amber section made the lights look generic like in the daytime.
I'm gonna move the stop lights to the middle like on TAs, except I will put the turn signals at the edges and make a mount for one of the regular lights.
I'm gonna have a lot of fun resizing the mounting holes for the new bulb housings.

I like 4 the best. 4, 1, 3, 2.
I too like the round lights on vettes and ferraris, but only on them. 3 was really my favorite if it had that missing element. I dont know what it is missing, but it is missing something.

I'm very interigued by this one. Its very interesting! I'm thinking a pic w/o the grid pattern. Seems to boxy to go with the nice angle you make on the painted section. Make the top one longer then the bottom one. Angle both of their inner edge to match the painted section's angle. They would have a even line of a matched angle. See how that looks. The angle would make it flow better! Also try another pic with the top one even a bit longer beyong the bottom one, past the body colored section. Just curious to see that. I think I would like it either way! 4 is cool and clean, but very hard. Not sure how you could get the clear to the inside w/o remaking the lenses!
2 too much black. Its seems wrong for our cars to have so little tail light back there.
1 the reverse light messes up the look.

Wow those are wild. 1A. Looks cool! I like how you angled the reverse light on both sides to match. That is much better! It needed just that!
3A I like even better, but what if the upper lens is a bit longer, still with the angled inner edge though? Whatcha think! Seems like it might soften the look of that thick band on top!

definately 4, its not trying to imitate something else and almost looks stock, but is different enough from stock to be appreciated by those with eyes for detail

I'll attempt it after I get my car running. I got half of the motor put together tonight. I need to find 2 spring seats so I can get the other head back together.

I'm all for #3, and #3a Devian, both of them are unique and fit the lines of a thirdgen VERY well.
If you do it, I don't think you will regret it.

Lol someone brought this post back from the dead. Well I did no. 1 and love it, but I do like Zeph's idea though, highly worth considering now.

Just wondering if you looked in the corner of the screen and saw that you posted in a thread that the last post was over 2 years old.

I voted 3, but I also felt that something was missing. I now choose 3a. That looks sick.
I personally will try to go with the complete knightrider blackout.
I am just wondering if the lack of red reflectors will make that a problem.
Devian, would you be incorperating some kind of reflector in your tails.
I know that this is an old thread, but I find it interesting.

Wow, nothin' like some old threads
But, I'll put my opinion anyway
Needs a more mod'd version of 3A, bring the angled sections closer to the center. 3A is a great upgrade from 3, but needs just a lil more IMO. Now wheres the pics of all this done in real life?! Three years is more than enough time to paint it
