Lets me see your Kumos 711.

I am having a hard time deciding which tires to get for my ride. I have read contrasting posts about 711, some say they are good others than they aren't. What do you think?

Could somebody share a picture of how a 711 look like from the rear of the third gen and from the front with the wheel turned.

It would be so nice if somebody could post couple pics.

Please guys, I don't have much time left to decide. The snow has melted away and I want my ride back.

Thanks.

Here's a pic of the rear. I'll get you a pic of the front in the morning. I've only had them for a week so I can't give you a lot of answers. They seem to ride and handle very well so far.

Thanks Tim.

Nice looking camaro you have. How do you like the 45 series? Is your car lowered?

I hear that the 711's are quite smaller than the 712's. Look into that before you decide. I recall something like the 265's on the 711 are the same contact patch and width as the 245 712's

Here's a pic of the front with the wheels turned slightly. As for for the 45 series tires...the reason I chose them was because the 245/45/17 tires are same overall diameter as 245/50/16 tires that are mounted on my 16" factory wheels on my RS. I liked the way that overall diameter filled the wheel wells.

As far as the 711's being smaller than the 712's...that's not the case. I looked at both a decided on the 711's since I did not need an ultra high performance tire. The 712 just has a different tread pattern design and is a softer tire compound. Both tires are directional. The contact patch for a 245/45/17 tire in either a 711 or 712 would be very, very similar when mounted on the correct size width rim for that size tire. Hope this helps.

I have these as well, they replaced a set of dunlop SP sport ZR5000's that I was running for a while. They are just as wide, and I think perform just as good as the dunlops that I was running, and cost me less than 1/2 as much. I have the 245/50/16 size, I should be able to grab some pictures of them tonight or tomorrow. IMHO they look much better than the 712's, which I have on another car. HTH!

Final verdict: These tires rock! You just can't beat these dollar for dollar.

Thanks guys thie is very good info. I went the Tire Rack site and looked up the 711 and the field for the tread width says N/A.

So i send them as email and see what they say.

There shold be as wide as any 245/50/16, correct? Could maybe somebody measure the width quickly and see what it is.

I like them and i feel like i am getting closer to purchasing them.

Thanks and more pics and comments would be appreciated.

I've got four of them waiting out in the garage right now to mount up on my 17's. I went with the 255/40/17, apparently that's as wide as they make them, or at least as wide as the "tirerack" carries. How much difference will I see switching from a 275/40/17 to a 255/40/17?? I must say, I wish that I would've opted for the 45 series though, from the looks of it there isnt much side wall on the 40's. I'll have to wait to get them mounted up and on the ride before I make the final decision.

I agree that the tread pattern looks much better than the 712, and hopefully these will last longer too.

Joe.

A tire that is sized 245/50/16 will be the same width as a tire sized 245/45/17. The first number, 245, represents the width of the tire in millimeters. The second number, 50 or 45, is the aspect ratio or the height of the side wall. The second number, 50 or 45, is the percentage of height the side wall is in regard to the width of the tire or in other words the side wall is 50% of 245mm tall. The overall diameter of the these two tires is the same the only difference would be that the 45 series tire would be a stiffer ride since it would have less side wall. Hope this helps.

Here's some more pictures. I have the stock 16" size 245/50/16. They handle a lot better than the Yokahama AVS tires I had before. I ordered them at Les Schwab because they said they could get them for $69.95 a piece.

before you buy them, check out www.tirerack.com they are very cheap, and deliver right to your door.

I bought the 712's from there, and I am very happy with them.

How well do the 711 perform compared to the 712's?
I wasn't too impressed with the 712's. When it was cold outside, there wasn't any traction in the rear, when it was warm, it had ok traction, but nothing like the BFG G-Force T/A KDW that I have now.
The 711 has a similiar look to the BFG's as well.

Hi Guys.

Today I picked up a set of 711 and they look awesome compared to my old BF's.

So I took my car for a ride on a highway and man I tell you, these tires rock. They are not as noisy, they handle good and look great.

This is my first expereince with Kumos so I don't know what to expect in terms of mileage, but I will try to be nice to my new tires at least for a while.

Thank again.
