Pinstripe Removal
Anyone got any good suggestions on how to remove pinstripes? I not sure how long they've been on the car but just trying to peel them back and off is not working.

Get a hair dryer. Use it to heat up the glue and it should peel off. Hopefully without taking the paint with it. The only real problem you may run into is if the car was repainted and they taped up to the stripe and left it. You will have a ledge in the paint. I don't know if the heat will help if the tape is super brittle. Can't hurt to try. Try not to burn yourself or the paint. It can be slow work if the stuff is really old. It may leave some stickum behind.
Why are you removing the stripe? to be rid of it or to repaint or redo the stripe. If you are repainting and its real stuborn, you may have to use a razor blade, or just DA it off.

I used a pressure washer.
An 1800 psi Honda with a four cycle engine.
It did not appear to damage the paint at all. (I am repainting so I dont care). But that doesnt mean it doesnt have the possibility of ruining the paint. It was just a suggestion.

It will eventually be repainted. I just don't like the brown/tan pinstripe combo on the white paint. According to the RPO sheet the car was an original stripe delet car. Thanks for advice. I had considered a hair dryer or even wait on some warmer weather (it's not to warm outside in McDonough).

Nice car!
The pressure washer idea...I have seen it do damage to paint, so I would stay away from that. It all depends on how much pressure though! It did not hurt the 82s paint, but I also did not car about the paint. I just wanted the grunge gone from the underside and engine bay!

The pressure washing idea didn't sound quite right. I am going to have to live with the paint at least through the end of the year so I don't want to do any damage to it.

If you are carefull you can use a razor blade and carefully start the pinstripe on each panel. That is what I did, when I redid my pinstripe. I think that it worked really well. Just be sure to be carefull and not scratch the paint.

Talk about a pain in the behind. I've got them off of the drivers side rear quarter panel and took me about two hours. I parked it out in the sun for about an hour and used a hair dryer but that wasn't much help. The stripes did leave some sticky residue but some bug and tar remover took care of that. I'll be back at it this afternoon.

I use to sell automotive products like paint and supplys. There is a rubber like wheel that spins on a drill. It is like a big eraser. It will remove anything from pinstripes to large decals. It wont hurt the paint. Most automotive paint supply stores should have them. The stripe would come off in minutes. It also removes almost all the glue. Works wonders.
EEECCKKK!!!!! WAIT DONT DO IT YET READ !
i did the same on my 95 camaro, scracthed the frist fender , i used a razorblade, then i realized take a razorblade and a water bottle and spray water on the pinstripe as you go,
