My Poor Windshield
My Poor Windshield
O.k., here's the story: When I first got my IROC, about a year ago, I had to replace the heater core because it took a big ****, and I had coolant like all over (on the carpet and such.) Then I got a new windshield, because I was sick of the pitted original one. Next thing I know is that I am constantly getting a greasy residue build-up on my windshield. Even after I strip if all off with vinnegar, within two or three days it's back! I think it is coming through the defroster vents. I am wondering if when the old heater core broke, there was still some coolant that didn't get cleaned up and it is going throught the vents and right up on my windshield. Trust me, she isn't fun to drive when you've got headlights coming right at you at night and you can't see where you are going. So has anyone experienced this problem? Any soulution(s)? My dad said that over time the old coolant should evaporate and be gone, but this is getting old. Help would be appreciated. -89IRO

My heater core has never gone out, but I have the same problem. I will wash the car, and clean the windshield and then like a week later there it is. What is that crap?
Well, in my case it is on the inside of the windshield, coming up from the defroster vents. I am STRONGLY assuming it is from the coolant that spilled from when the old heater core broke. I am hoping there is just a little residual left and I will be in the clear after the rest evaporates. I hope I'm right. -89IRO
