the clay bar itself doesnt give a shine. its entire purpose is to lift contaminats off your paint such as small overspray, rail dust, sap etc.

You still have to polish/wax after wards.

would it be better to strip the wax off the car first before using the bar

I would. That will let you get the stuff right off the paint itself instead of the layer of wax.

i first power washed my car, then i used the lube from the kit(mothers quick shine or something) while using the bar, make sure there is always a good coat of lube on the paint surface, then after that is done, i wiped the car down a few times, then i used the wax from the kit. it took me about 3 hours to do.

Id suggest not using a power washer. The force of the water hitting paint with dust or dirt on it isnt exactly good for it.

Yup listen to this ^^^^, previous owner power washed my car, and blew off a big chunk of the clear coat on the roof of my car probably about half the size of the painted part of my roof (I have t-tops so the paint part is considerbly smaller then the whole roof) But still it's a big ol ugly spot on my car, I hate the previous owners of my car

Is your driver seat down for a particular reason, or do you just drive around like a some kind of pimp?

Hah, good observation Jim.

My seats down like that, not THAT far..but I'm 6'2", around 6'3" with shoes on, my knees still get in the way of my steering wheel.

i put my seat down so i could get to the fuses better(im 6'7). and by power washer, i mean like the kind that are at car washes, so it isnt a large amount fo pressure on the paint.

Just FYI: The clay bar system does work awesome, and it's VERY reccomended that the car be polished, then waxed, or at least waxed to take advantage of the effects. Having used the clay bar first, your paint is now clean, and applying wax will be quite nice. Your paint will easily contaminate ruining the laboring efforts of the bar aplication. So slap some Mother's Wax on the bad boy! It looks sharp!

Car: Check The Sig
my boss told me that the clay bars that come in that kit arent big enuff and that i should get a REAL clay bar. I work(ed) at a parts store, and have always heard about the clay bar, but didnt think about it. So let me get this strait...
wash the car with hand soap to get rid of the wax
then use the clay bar
then polish(any kind that works good?)
and then wax(same as above?)
am i understanding you right? cant wait to bring out that shine.. 16 years of paint kinda needs a deep cleaning

Al it wont necessarily make it shine better, but make the paint much smoother and contamint free.

Your shine will depend on the conditon of your paint and what products you choose

as always is suggest:
