Fun with wheels
Just finished up the last of my "new" wheels. Heres a somewhat before and after. The one on the left is one of two spare wheels I have now (don't ask, I needed one and the guy I knew was selling a set of three, all with tires I won't use ... there 215's and mine are larger than that ... but hay I couldn't bet the price). The color isn't doing the paint any justice here, it's a mattalic burgandy color. My car is Bright Red. There's a guy down the street with the same color car with the factory color on the same rims so I didn't want that .... plus hay I'm doing the job so might as well do it a little different anyhow. Oh, I also took off the clear coat and polished the bare areas (getting rid of the spin look in the process).

Already done ... got 225's on the front and 235's on the back. These are 215's (standard size) that came with the wheel. Considering the price I paid for all three wheels and tires it was basically free.
In a few days I'll be getting the current front tire placed on the rim. Itll be joining the rest of the rims already on the car that I've painted and polished also.
Thanx for the complement. It was a time consuming job but the finished product is well worth it.

Looks a lot better. At least thats a pretty easy wheel to mask. I'm gonna be masking my IROC ones FOREVER

No you'll probably be polishing forever, those things have a LOT of polishing area too them ... masking should be a snap. Use a wide masking tape and cut out the areas you want to paint.
Ofcourse this is coming from an art major who sees spending three weeks on a painting not a bad investment of time too.
What color do you plan to go with?
The one thing I don't really get is if you are going to go through all the work to refinish the wheels yourself then why not make them ALL yours and original by changing the color a little. For example, if your wheel originally had black paint on it then why not find a really dark grey Gun Metal mettalic to paint it in. Just my thought ........ would still like to know though.
