soap, water, and a toothbrush

theres a bunch of other products that i use to maintain the engine bay like eagle one New finish (can't remember the name of it, comes in a small tin can and has a cloth like thing in it) works pretty good to maintain the aluminum parts. Soap and water for pretty much everything else

That's what I use as well. The Gunk will get most everything off. On some parts it leaves a little residue. Simple Green on a rag takes the rest right off.

If your engine is really greasy do it at the local carwash or your driveway will end up looking like your engine once did.

Power clean...I think...Purple power...very strong...keep off polished and ceramic coated products...Spray on hose off...then tooth brush for the hard to get off stuff. The spray on degreaser just gets you started...to really get it clean...toothbrush with degreaser and rags & water...

If the engine and engine bay are real bad, I would use gunk or some other product like that. For follow up cleanings about once a month or so, I use Simple Green. I will not hurt paint and it is bio-degradable. Won't hurt plants or animals.

I would put one over your altenator, your distributer cap, anything you know it would cause problems on. I use windshield washer tubing connected to the outside facet. That way it gives you a tiny stream of water to work with instead of just soaking it with a big hose. Just go to walmart in the lawn and garden, and you can get the adapter to fit your facet. WOrks for me, havn't hurt anything yet.

Purple Power mixed 1/2 and 1/2 does wonders. I don't believe I'd use it full strength though... might strip some paint off
