Group Purchase... Ram Air I or II hoods

I have never done this before but I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing a GP for Ram Air hoods. I figure since Im going to order one, maybe there are others interested. I want the RAII for my 88 GTA. If there is an interest Im gonna get in touch with them Monday to get you guys more details (either way im ordering in the next weeks). Im thinking that the ASCD is the best quality hoods. I will also contact Hawks. The list price at 549 for camaro and firebird and 485 for the TA RAI and I believe this includes the grills.

OK guys I made some phone calls today. Unfortunately, the only company that you can get the RA I hood from seems to be ASCD. I called them this morning and the owner is going to get back to me tomorrow. Ill throw out some figures I got from the other companies but alot of you want the RAI over the RAII ---BUT just as a follow up here ya go.

HAWKS
buy 5 hoods get 25 off per hood, buy 10 hoods get 50 off per hood. The RAII hood cost $499 each and includes cutouts and screens installed. No decals. Shipping costs will really sc*** us with a cost of about $75 per hood. He said that the shipping will be the same for more than one hood if they are shipped to the same place but this is unlikely that we are from the same places!!
TOTAL is either 550shipped (5 or more) or 575shipped(10)
RAMAIRHOOD.COM
Same deal here. Thier hoods are 550 ea and they will give 10% off for 5 or more hoods. This is 495 ea but shipping is anywhere from 100-125 and you need to prime the hood. Not such a great deal.

As I said Im really hoping that ASCD will give us some good prices. Their hoods are the best quality and they offer the RAI and RAII. Ill get back to you guys tomorrow. I mean the 550 shipped for the HAWKS RAII isnt that bad.

I just noticed that thirdgenresource.com offers the RAI and RAII so Ill call them tomorrow. shipping there is from 55-75 so the deal may be pretty good.

Well the best price so far is HAWKS- the prices I listed were with shipping. Base price of 5 or more without shipping is 475, 10 or more without shipping is 450...then tag on about 75 to ship. Unfortuantely they dont have the RAI hood. I myself wanted the RAII but the more I think about it Im leaning towards the RAI, the RAII may be too bulky for the shape of my GTA.

Called ASCD today and the owner could not even have the decency to call me back from the message I left yesterday. In addition I asked to speak to him and his secretary gets back on the ohone to say "hes not doing that right now (discounts)". So no go for ASCD.

My last call is going to be to thirdgenresource.com who carries both the RAI and RAII hood. These are the ASCD hoods that they are selling. I called but the owner stepped out. I guess they do GP's on SLP stuff so lets keep or fingers crossed.

OK guys... well after that call to ASCD they ended up calling me back. They are now going to see what kind of deal they can offer us on the hoods. The secretary (who happened to be the owner's wife) was very nice and said she would email me with some figures tonight.

Also I called Thirdgenresource and spoke to Roy the owner. He said he would be glad to get a discount going for us. On the other hand he is the one who orders from ASCD direct so he said he has to call them for prices. I did not tell him that I talked to ASCD because I want to see what kind of prices both companies throw back at us. You never know Thirdgen may be less than ASCD and vice versa. Also even though shipping may be 2-3 weeks he stressed taht he cant garentee this is a large number have to be shipped... meaning that 4-6weeks is possible.

For you canadians... they do ship to Canada. All of our shipping costs will be different because these companies are located on the east. Also the RAI and RAII hoods are finished underneath and include screens and decals from both of these companies.

In order for this group purchase to occur everyone has to mail in a signed authorization form so that they can charge our cards (mail or fax). The lady from ASCD is going to email me this form tonight. So we will take it from there. Keep in mind if any of you know people with businesses the hood can be shipped there at a slightly lower cost maybe 20 bux.

The purchase(or charging of the card so to say) will be made on the same day but everyone will use their own credit card and pay the company. A key is that all of us will get the authorization form which I will email you. This form needs to be signed and will include all shipping and credit card info. I assume when they receive all the forms they will charge the cards an apply our discount. The sooner we get these forms back to them the quicker the process. We can mail them or fax a signed copy over to them.

Im still waiting on ASCD. Thirdgenresoure wont go over their heads and ASCD said to me "hes still deciding if he wants to do a GP". This is really annoying me so I'll wait a couple days and get back to them. Ill tell them there is another company that will give us the discount and we are doin it with them. Bluff them a little. Ill keep you posted.
Is anyone still interested in HAWKS' RAII hood if ASCD wont do anything?

What is the difference between the Hawks and the ASCD ram air-2 hood? They look the same to me
I am still interested in getting in on the group purchase, just let me know how much, and when it will take place. Knowing the diferences between the two hoods would help too

Hawks RA II hood is made by GTAuto (or Ramairhood.com....whatever)
ASCD RA II hood is made by ASCD (which is known for high quality RA I hoods)

that's the difference.

I'm down for a RAII firebird hood. I also would like to get the airbox with it too. Lemme know when this deal is gonna go down and what kinda discount we can get. These places also offer a discount on hood shipping if you send it to a business rather than an actual home address. Just a little info in case you need it. This place has good deals for hoods and airboxes if u wanna check it out. I wanted to get mine there if I was gonna buy it solo.

The Ram Air Hood is pretty sweet but count me out now. I've fallen for the 4inch cowled outlaw Z hood. My buddy has one on his '72 454 camaro, and it makes that car. And I just saw a 4 incher on a third gen and it looks badass, sorry guys I have to go for it ! and it's only $269.

Hey I got in touch with them about the discount for the Ram Air II hood and they said the group purchase price is 495. But if you look at the website, that's the sale price already. Anyone know what's up with that? I thought we get a cheaper price than what they have it for sale already. Oh and just to let you know, I asked him if I could use the airbox with the TBI setup and his reply was, "What is a TBI?"

Wow took forever but they finally got back to me. The owner said there is no need for a group purchase and he will sell the hoods for 435 each. This is the RAII price. I just bought mine yesterday. Shipping to my house (MA) was 75 and packaging was 15... So this is a grand total of 525 shipped!! Pretty good if you ask me. Call ASCD direct with the 1-800 number and the discount code is SUMMESALE. GOOD LUCK GUYS!
