Freshly Clay bared, washed, and waxed!

While the paint still needs a crap load of work, at least there is a reflection. Weekly washings, have brought the reflection back to the car. Before you couldn't see your reflection at all, but after the clay bar its much better.

All images are in 1800x1200, and range from 130k to 230k.

Looks good man! The paint job looks like it's seen it's day.

But don't feel bad. Every member here can testify they have blemishes all over their cars that bug the living crap out of them too.

What kind of clay bar did you use and where did you get it? I think I will have to do my car before the meeting.
Whats the process also?

I bought the clay bar at Autozone. Can't remember how much I paid for it, it wasn't much.

The clay bar is just like a giant ball of wacky tacky, only it comes with a lube spray. Spray the area you want to clean, and run the clay bar over it pretty often. To clean the clay bar just stretch it out and fold it over, repeat that a few times. It took me about 2 hours to claybar my car the first time. Another 30 minutes to wash my car because I'm ****, and then another hour on top of that to wax it.

Sorry, I just can't help myself, I'm **** about the crappy paint I've got. So I have to make it look as good as it can be. If my buddy gets ahold of some Formula 113 then I'm going to strip the wax, clay bar it AGAIN, and wax it with F113 for the memorial day party. If not, its just gonna get washed, and waxed again with the meguires.

I always did like white cars best. It doesn't look bad at all.

Thanks for inspiring me to use one on my car FruityOne.
here are the steps I used.
1. Washed the car
2. Clay bar
3. Wash again
4 Wax with Formula 113.

It feels so smooth now.

Yeah, a claybar really smooths out the paint. If you can't see the difference then you sure can FELL the difference in the paint. The parts you claybar will be smooth as glass to the touch. I had to be careful on a few spots because I'm already showing primer through the paint. Since I can't paint the car I may just do touch ups on the area's where primer is showing through.

I'm stuck in limbo as far as paint goes. I really like the pearl white. Its a great color, shows diry very easily though.

Gunmetal grey would also be a great color to work with it.

Then again I see pics of Hawian's sunset orange paint job and I go gonzo because I love that color on camaro's. I wonder how it'd look on a GTA. Problem with that paint is none of the GTA emblems would match the paint. I'm so **** I'd probably pay someone to create emblems using the colors so they'd match up.

I just clay barred my car a couple days ago...I bought a Clay Magic clay bar at Pep Boys...9.99...there was a mother's one for I think $5 more. The difference is so amazing I couldn't believe it. It feels awkward at first because you're rubbing this hunk of play-dough and you think you're gonna harm the finish or something. Afterwards though its smooth as silk. Works on glass too. You just spray on the lube and rub it back and forth...but you can't let the lube dry on your car or you get these spots on the paint so you have to wipe it off as you go. I'm gonna be using the clay bar a lot more often. Makes the wax go on a lot smoother too.

Thats why I wash the car after I'm done. It comes off with a little soap and water. Mixing some Dawn dish soap into the water also cuts any grease that may be on the car, as well as any wax on the car.

Yeah I have a spray bottle of distilled mineral free water...and I spray that over and wipe it off. Its a handy thing to have around...if you have a little smudge or something just spray a little water and wipe it off with a clean towel. Water isn't gonna hurt anything and since its distilled it won't leave any water spots either

Been that way since I bought it, but there isn't any frame damage, and the impact bar is still intact with minor scuffing. My guess is the previous owners smacked a parking stall barrier.
