Shaving Handles Off...

I'm shaving the locks and handles off of my car, or plan to in about 2 weeks. So..

1) Do I take the interior handles off too? If I take the outside ones off, will the inside ones still work?
2) When I get the outside ones off, do I need to bondo the gaps where the locks and handles were, or put putty there, or what?

Thanks.

When i did it to my car I filled the gaps with a fiberglass body filler basically same thing as bondo. Also I left the inside handles on but took out the locking mechanism so i didnt accidently lock my doors and have no way of getting in my car short of opening the hatch and climbing in.

You can still use the interior handles, and they will work......although if you use the lock, it won't let the door open when the door is locked, which really doesn't matter because even if it's unlocked, there are no door handles for them to open it......

Also you need to place a piece of metal in there and weld it on, then use the body filler to make the whole area smooth, at least that's how mine was done.......

FLYnLow. I absolutely ADORE those fender vents.

One thing I've always wondered about shaved handels though. If you have a push-button release somewhere (under the door I'm assuming), what is stopping just anyone who sees the shaved handels from running there fingers under the door, and getting into the car?

Thanks...

ABSOLUTLY NOTHING, that's why you don't put the button underneath the door....

The button to pop the door is on the Alarm remote......Then if anything does happen you crawl through the hatch area.....with a spare key....

heres some tips:

do NOT use bondo, body filler, fiberglass, or anything else like that to fill in the door handle holes. the proper way to do it is to use metal.

stripp the paint off the door by the handle.

trim a piece of metal to exactly fit in, flush with the handle hole. some people do it freehand, most make a template.

tack weld the panel over teh hole, alternating sides to keep the metal from overheating

grind down the tac welds and it should be nice and smooth... you can use a little filler if needed to smooth it over, but if you do it carefully, you shouldnt need any...

for the release... use a remote normally to get in.

optional things to do to get in, in a emrgency:

1. make a cable operated pull handle.
2. hide a waterproof switch somewhere.
3. use a magnetic switch. this switch can be hidden in the door, and it doesnt engage unless a strong magnet is held over it. so if you say, locked your keys in the car, you can use a magnet to pop it open.
4. just crawl in thru the hatch. the hatch still uses a key.

also...... do a search here.... and on google if you have free time...

btw, i would use 35 or 50lbs 'noids with the doors, may be a bit over kill, but even if they get weak from age, cold or whatever, they still will pull hard enough...
