Air diverter valve. It is supposed to go from there to:
1. Your catalytic connection
2. To you exhaust manifolds.
There should be 2 electrical connectors in their but yours doesn't seem to be complete...

is that a bad thing or what? since its not working can i just pull it apart and remove it, i live in florida with no emissions checking. so......

so how were you able to remove yours without any proplem. I hate it because its got all th pipe there and covers the beauty of the engine.

I removed all the emissions stuff.
The circled thing in the last pic is the purge canister soleniod stuff. I did keep that on my car and so should you. The EEC is considered emissions stuff, but it controls fuel vapor pressure and it sends it back into the throttle body. The thing you see in the pic is the heater control valve. The 2 sensors that were on the box in question, I mounted them on top of the AC compessor, just to retain something to plug the harness into.

The air box is pretty much standard I believe for 85 to, I think, 88 or 89 TPI 'birds and also came on the v6ers.

so that intake mess is stock? I'm gonna goto home depot and get the pvc pipe i need to make my own cold air. I ordered a k&m filter from summit yesterday so it'll be here in a few days.
