Custom 3rd brake lights anyone?

I have a problem with the one in my spoiler. it has the 5 big halogen lamps that get waaaay too hot for one and they also cause my voltage guage to drop when I hit the brakes. I noticed that it was all corroded inside so I cleaned it real good with electric parts cleaner. Still the same thing

Anyhow I want to switch to LED or aftermarket. What do you have?> Post some pics!

What do you mean by Big halogen light bulbs in the 3rd brake light??? Stock is the very small two wire 20 watt (5) bulbs. When I need replacements, I go to Radio Shack and buy them for $1.99 ea. And you should not be getting a voltage drop by applying the brakes (other problems).

I got the bulbs from Radio Shack... still draw way too much current and the housing gets hot as hell. I know the problem is in the 3rd lite cause when its unplugged the drop goes away.

NOW LETS SEE SOME CUSTOM WORK!!!

Found this:www.superbrightleds.com/led_prods.htm

I don't have a third brake light- I have an '84 Z28 but the idea of LED for 3rd lights is a good one. I may put one in my rear spoiler when I get the big stuff fixed on the car.

I agree with him, the problem must be elsewhere.
