My Iroc and SS hood!

Here is my Iroc with the SS hood. Everything turned out ok except i cannot seem to fix the problem with the gap in the front. Now i need to find a way to make it functional. Does anybody make a functional ram air for this hood?

pop the hood

the latch that the hood catches on, has 2 big screws

loosen them, and move it down some
tighten, and shut.
don't put it down too much, though.. or it'll be too tight and ... yeah.. so you want a small gap in there

if ya look at your front end, there are ways to adjust it as well, you just have to adjust it up...

look in a good service manual, or just ask a body shop...hood looks good!

When I got my new steel/stock hood after my accident, I had the same problem. It's because the NEW spring was too stiff. It eventually got better.

Since your new hood is lighter than the stock hood, I imagine even if you're using your old spring, this would be a problem. How about cutting a coil outta your spring? Kinda like droppin' your hood like you were droppin' your suspension???

I didn't install the spring on mine because it still pop open without using it. Maybe thats why mine is such a good fit on the nose.

Its worth trying, just make sure you have a helper to open in the hood if it doesnt pop up on its own.

well i took the spring off and drilled the latch holes down farther and this didnt help but maybe a few millameters so the spring isnt the problem. There is still a large gap there so i dunno what to do next. Anybody else have any ideas? Anybody know how to make this hood functional?

Only one place makes them and that ASCD... many people sell that brand though. Check one of the site sponsors at the top.

What if the only side that doesn't match up is the left side, how do you go about adjusting it then??

I have already taken the front bumper off and making sure everything was installed correctly....

As you can see in the picture below.....

if i am not mistaken (like i said, talk to a body shop...) there are sliding nuts on the sides of the front fascia, where it bolts to the fender, but i may be way off...

it looks like if u put the hood down closer the the front bumper, you'll get it lined up at the bumper but the hood wont line up w/ the fender anymore towards the front of the car? i think you need to move the bumper up a few mm, if that is even possible.

hey guys, i had the same problem....

what i ended up doing was taking a ghetto approach to it.

here is a before picture

there are four bolts that go from this bracket that connects the top of the bumper to that plate that the hood latches to. what i ended up doing was unbolting the middle two and wedging these two metal thingamajigs in there to raise the bumper.

here is a pic... dont you just love how the flash brings out and exagerrates every little blemish?

here is the after pic... big improvement

If aligning the latch and stuff dosen't work..you could also try aligning the front nose. I had to do it on a friends before and it worked fine. You'll need to take loose some of the plastica on the inside and there are some bolts and brackets that you can move to try to get it to fit right. That's just a thought, my SS hood fit pretty good on my 91 ZEEEEEE

ya got my SS hood to fit nice in the front end. I ended up taking off the plastic a few days ago and put some longer screws in with spacers to hold up the nose.. Works wonderful tho and u cant even tell.

Y'all have dicussed the problem with the hood sometimes not fitting right in the front, but what about the back of the hood? I've heard you can have problems with the SS hood interfering with the windshield wipers. Have any of you ever had this problem?

BTW, the SS hoods, :hail:
