SS hood question

Wasnt sure if this belonged in body or appearance, cause it fits both categories.. anyways i was just wondering what everyones opinions are on cutting the back of the ss hood off where it closes off at the back of the cowl, if that makes sense.. so its open like a cowl hood, and not closed off like it comes from ASCD.. has anyone here done it? i searched and couldnt find anything. also whoever has, what steps did you use to do it, thanks.

I've never seen it done, but it defeats the purpose of the hood......Air would go right through the front and exit out the back??

It wouldn't be that hard to do, from the looks of it, would be pretty easy.....

Roy at thirdgen resource did it to his white convertable. It looks quite nice with a clean cut. I opted not to do it on mine though.

Negative air pressure...you'd still be getting cold air........

so your saying if i cut it, it wouldnt make a differance with the air coming in the front? cause i thought thats why cowls were open in the back, the air goes in through that opening or something ( thought i remember seeing someone say that it bounces off the windshield or something..)

I dont . I was checking it out a few weeks ago at the Autofair at LMS. I dont recall any pics showing it on their website either.

I'd be curious to see what the bennefits are if any since you would have an opening in the front and rear.

I know that this is kinda off topic but I heard that you have to make a cut in the back of the ss hood for the windsheild wipers is this true cause i ordered mine and wondering if i have to do any work on it or it will just go on

you need top cut for the washer sprayers. As far as cutting the back, i have been wanting to do it. I definitely get some hood buffering at speed from air backing up at the back of the hood. I think the open back would definitely create a stream of air pulling heat off the top of the intake manifold. This would create a colder charge for thei intake air. I would definitely be interested to see a tech article on this.

aight if i do it ill definatly make a tech article on it.. expect a yes or no answer in about 2 weeks when i get the hood.. i thought about it taking away structural support, but i plan on having hood pins in the front just for caution, dont want it flying off ( its a love hate thing, i like it) and its bolted on both sides in the back, so i dont see how taking it off would make it flimsy.. well see what happens, if roy replies to my email ill let you guys know what he says.

I never had to cut one thing on my SS hood....bolted right on with no cuts. I didn't want to cut the back of mine out because it looks like it might be a little flimsy...plus..I like the looks of the back of it....even the 96-97 SS hoods were built like that....
