I wanted 17X9.5's.....but the dumbies at the tire shop tried 3 different sizes...and they were concerned how close everything was with the 9.5's...so I just went with 8's.....plus...I can rotate them....they order the sam backspacing on all of them..

Wow, those look incredible on your car. I love it. :hail:
Weird thing is I didn't used to like those wheels at all and I love them more and more as I see them, and they look absolutely awesome on your car.

do you have any close-ups of the wheels from the side? I'm interrested in getting a good view of how the 275s look on an 8" wheel.

Dude I think your cars givin me a stiffy... its soo pretty...I agree with the lowering, but i havent dont it either cause I got sum big ol pipes like you. Leather seats wouldnt hurt either ; ) As youve probably figured out by now i've been wanting to do this to my car, but dont have the cash. How much did you end up spending with tires and all if you dont mind me asking. if you dont wanna post it you can email me jordanm@arches.uga.edu, you can send me some more of those pics too and ill post em on here (when did they change the rule with 3 pics, and why wont they let you even tho everyone is asking for em?) Also how do the wheels look under the wheel wells with the same backspacing on each wheel?
Damn that's hot. I want to mount your car and do it in the tailpipe!
Anyway, excellent pictures; and I agree, get that baby lowered! Do it right and you won't have scraping problems, I'm sure.

You know, i'm not against the lowering, but I don't think it necessary to look good. If you're on the fence, then I'd say do it, but if not.....leave it. I think the higher stance (stock) looks a little more old school.
I like it.
-Heck, it's not like it's sits high right now.

Small rims are old school. I see alot of 1st gesn with TTII's on them. They are always 15'' thought.
Ive seen a 3rd gen with TTII's that were 15's. I thought it looked kinda stupid. Just my opinion thought.

Cays back off I saw her first!
84, thats way cheap, alot less than I thought I was gonna have to spend to get them, I price checked last year when I had money and it was gonna be well over 2k with tires, but that was for 18" chrome, and I think its like 400 extra just for chrome. Hehe not like I can afford it now anyways! Oh yea I had a thought too, if you wanna post more pics just make another name! I have an old one that I dont use..but I cant remember the password or i'd give it to you to use.

Yet, another great addition to your ride!
I'm jumping on the wagon also in a few weeks. I've got a 91 RS Vert and I'm creaming big time for these rims. I have the mystic teal paintjob and I think these will look perfect on the car.
But I'm still a bit confused about the backspace size to get on the 17" rim.
chevyken has the TTII's 17x9.5 with 5.25" bs on the front and 5.5" bs on the rear with 275/40 17's and he says they fit like a glove.
84customZ28 yours are 17x8 with what kind of backspacing?
Right now I can get the 17x9.5 with 5.5" bs for $925 shipping included.
If I go with the same setup as chevyken then it bumps up to $990 shipping included and a 4 to 5 week waiting period. I'm guessing the 5.25 backspacing is the custom wheel here.
And therefore the waiting period.
I've seen pictures of chevykens rims in other posts and I'd swear they look like they would rub on the front if he hit a nasty bump. Also do they rub on the inner fenderwell when you turn all the way?
I'd like to get some nice fat tires under my car, more for the looks than the traction. I'm not a lead foot and just prefer the look of wide tires.
Currently I have stock tires and rims on the car. My tires are 235/60 15's and are approx 9.25" wide with 4.5" backspacing. I have maybe 2 to 3" of clearance on the rear inner fender well.
(tire to trunk gap)
If I went to a 275/40 17" tire with a backspacing of 5.5" would I not rub on the sides of the trunk? The tire would be approx 10.75" and then add another 1" for the back spacing. This would cause the tire to sit 2.5" deeper towards the sides of the trunk leaving me with a 1/2" gap between the tire and the trunk if my math is right here.
Are you guys this close to the trunk also? If so, are the tires rubbing with body flex in sharp curves?
Thanks for all the info!

When they installed a set of the 17X9.5's.......it looked like they would hit very easily if a bump in the road was harsh enough. I'm not saying that Chevyken's won't work.....but I just wanted to be as safe as possible with these wheels. I think my back spacing is like 11MM

Just to answer a few of the questions:
Yes, I have a bs of 5.25" up front and 5.5" and out back.
The reason for that was that after careful measuring 5.5" would give pretty much 0 clearance. Since few had experience with these rims at the time, I didn't take the chance of having the rims rubbing the end links.
Im glad I did, as there is less than .25" clearance now - in other words, I would've had to grind the end links, which I wasn't too keen on doing
So for me, this was the perfect solution. Also, at the time (about 3 years back) 5.5" bs was also a custom rim, so I had to wait the 6 weeks anyway, and the price was the same.
As for rubbing, they rub at full wheel lock, just like my stock 16x8 IROCs with the stock 245's on them did. No difference.
Sure, at a harsh bump they will touch the wheel well - but so did the stocks after the car was lowered 1.5".
So all together, I have the exact same troubles with the 17x9.5s as I did with the stock rims/tires - and it is nothing worth mentioning. I drove the car on a 1600 mile road trip this summer and it was all just pure fun!!!
Hope that cleared up some ???'s about my rims

Looks good!! But I think those wheels are getting a little too common.
Since we both have black Z's, this will give you an idea of what your car would look like with Chrome Z06 wheels.

Thanks for the info guys.
It makes things a bit clearer.
Except for the 11mm backspacing.
That would be like a 1/2" backspacing right?
The roads around my town are flat terrible. All the parking lots are about 1 foot higher than the road you are coming off of. And just to make things more tricky they added a gully before each entrance so you have a nice 3" dip to hit before you make the 1' climb.
some of these are so rough I keep thinking I'm going to knock the alignment out of whack every month.
I do worry about hitting the fender.
But I also did not lower the car so maybe I'll be safe there.
I can't lower the car simply because there is not enough ground clearance on the roads around here.
I added a B&M deep transpan and it has scuffed a few times already, fortunately only light scuffs. This is with stock rims and tire size.
So you can see my problem here.
I don't mind the front rubbing a bit on the inside in a full turn. I think if I did it once and heard that aweful noise I would problably not do it again.
Hmmm...
It would be nice to be able to rotate the tires. So having the same backspacing would help this problem.
What do you think if I went with a 17X9.5 with lets say a 4.5 to 5" back spacing all the way around with 275/40 tires?
Would the tires stick out too much?
