I'm new to this paticular board.. but i've been watching what's being said in the last day.... It's kinda amazing... concidering it takes almsot 4 minutes to load these posts :P
Anyways.. here is my comment about this.

Rex had hosted a hood draw... free... and available to obviously members of clubs.. and non members.. that means... ANYONE could win. We really don't know exactly what happend.. and the only people who know what happend is Rex and Wowcolor.
All I have to say is... it was a draw.. and it's on the internet.. not everything that you see is real... as each and everyone of you people know.. You can post just about anything on the internet, may it be real.. or not. The first kind of reaction I noticed was that... it was like the end of the world!!! It's not!! Relax... take a breath.. and crack a beer. Rex made his post... and apologized.. and tried to make ammends for the fiasco that has just happend. Now it's up to each and everyone of us individually to accept it or not. Why really drag it out any more. It's not like we are going to benifit from it.
Think before we post maybe.... or maybe just leave it... walk away.

bro, what is your real tgo name? That sh#t was not cool, if its true that you created a name after finding out that the posted winner was not a registered name, then you should be delt with. If you are in on the scam you should be delt with, so either way your screwed. I wouldn't freakin cheat people like you claim you did. I would just let it go and tell people what I learned, that there is no real member with that name, that way there would be another name drawn.

Eh i dont think i would buy a hood from them regardless but for other reasons. Yes it all comes down to ethics but if this truly was an accident then his ethics can not be put at fault. I think the biggest problem here is this was done really sloppily. It was just hey e-mail me and youre in. There were no controls and there was just far too much room for error. As a business you MUST handle things in as professional of a manner as is possible and this contest was not handled well at all

First you jumped to conclusions and probably put a SERIOUS dent in his buisness. And I'm sure we'll all see that everyone was wrong. And even if you're not, you're still shooting yourself in the foot.

Do you even know why this site was started? Because no other website supported thirdgens. Do you know why there are only ads for thirdgen parts places? Because they support thirdgens.

Even if the giveaway was BS, ASCD is still the only place out there making cool hoods for thirdgens. Your own bloodlust has probably cost thirdgens more than anyone would like, like I said you all shot yourself in the foot, and made all of us look like dumbasses.

Rex, you're welcome to hang out on nethirdgen.org, I'm a dictator admin, this **** wouldn't fly.

 

I should also say, the mods of this board weren't using any sort of ethics in allowing the first post to go on. A fair mod would have locked it immediately until the whole thing was resolved.

i tend to agree with mac. I know for a fact that the drawing post spread to other message boards, mine included, so what probably happened is that someone signed up for the drawing who wasn't a member of thirdgen.org at all.

And the guy who signed up here as wowcolor made the situation worse.

rex may have made a mess by not validating that the guy was in fact a member of TGO, but it sounds like this is their first time doing this stuff. Live and learn. I think for future giveaways there should be definite restrictions. here's a good way to handle it:

1.Open the entry on the first day of a month
2.Exclude anyone whose signup date isn't the previous month or earlier.

That will weed out the people who are just signing up to get in on the freebie. Post count IMO is not a good indicator of anything.

I don't think Rex was looking to rip anyone off, i think everyone blew an honest mistake by Rex way out of proportion and you're trying to hang him for it. It sounds like he's more than willing to make good on it, especially if he's going to give away 5 more hoods.

ps. And wowcolor (either one) should NOT get a hood, period.

 

Petty crap like this from thirdgenners is one reason why many of us old timers who helped make this site don't come here anymore.

If I was a business I'd never support thirdgenners. They do nuthing but bitch and moan about how nobody has anything for their cars, then as soon as someone provides them a service they do whatever they can to tear it down.

This is the first time I wish I was still a mod here, I would locked this up a long time ago.

I think this contest is a total wash but if hes still going to do this for us (and really it is a favour more then anything else) I'm sure the memebers on this board would be willing to give him a second chance. I dont think he even needs to give away 5 hoods because you dont want to hurt the business if he still only gave away one but ran the contest properly im sure it would put a better sense of trust between third gen owners and ASCD. I say run the contest again from scratch, put some descent rules in like is mentioned in the post B4 mine, and give rex a chance to redeem himself.

 

I couldn't agree with your post more. People jumped to huge conclusions and had it stuck in their head that this was a scam without having any *real* evidence...just looking for someone to blame. Yeah, I will agree that the raffle could have been done in a more organized fashion. But it wasn't, so get over it. Rex seems to be making an honest effort to get this situation resolved so get off his case.

In all fairness the original thread about giving away the hood was non tech related but it was on this forum so thats why this happened here.

Im new here and have both a 83 T/A and a 97 GTP and have been with clubgp since 2001 and would like to say that Rex has done a great job for us on his raffle and sorry to hear the problems that have happened here on this site.Im sure he will go about it different next time.

it has been admitted by wowcolor that he made up the name AFTER rex posted the winner as wowcolor the point @ cz28 was that the E-mail adress that rex had for the winner coulda been wowcolor@anything.com for all we know

Rex cleared up the problem that was going on at cz28.com and im sure once he figures what the he!! is going on here he will clear this matter up as well.....:lala:

I, like many of us, would like to know where wowcolors came from, but I think you may be missing something in your reading. The wowcolors that popped up in the earlier post with the peasguys@hotmail.com address is a phony. He made up the account after the drawing, and admitted to it later. So he is not the real wowcolors and his email address isn't the same as the real wowcolors, so the address could very well be wowcolors@hotmail.com.

 

Okay guys, enough already. I will talk to Rex and try and figure out exactly what happened and what is going to happen.
