15" or 17" Wheels.....Poll
First off, I'm an "old skool" kind guy. When I was a teen, jacking cars up in the back with air shocks was the thing. Big tires hanging out the quarters, and skinnys up front...
Hell, in the 50's they ran straight axles and jacked up the front!
Neither one did anything for handling. Just fads...
Then came the phase of lowering a car till it drug on the ground...
Now it's wheels so big, there's no room left for tires.....and lowered. IMO 20" rims are waaaayyy much!!
There's a guy around here with the 100 spoke 20" or so wheels on a 87 Monte Carlo, and I swear, it looks like clowns are gonna bail out any second.....
If I get 15" rims on my car, I'll most likely get Crager SS 8" diam. all around.
If I get 17's it'll be Torque thrust -D's.....
Car will not be lowered......
Handling always a priority, but I'm not road racing.

Even with the 17's you will still have the classic look with the torque thrusts.

17's just look better...nothing like tucking a lil wheel under the fenderwell....and get some 15's too. Throw slicks at em and have some fun.
Just my opinion though...

Thanks for the input everyone!!
Seems 17" so far on the poll.....keep em coming!!
Of course I have brand new BF Goodrich P245-60R 15's on my stock rims, so I'll have to get 17" tires too....
How much the tires and stock Z28 rims worth in general if I put a price on them?? Rims in decent shape with plastic centercaps...tires might have 3000 miles on them....look new....
No one for 15" though???....interesting.

nobodys really mentioned tire selection really either though. I was looking into getting new wheels/tires for my car and i noticed that alot of higher performance tires arent made for 15" wheels..i voted 17's..i think thats what i'll eventually end up with as well

I noticed a huge improvement in handling just from going 15"s to 17"s. They look better, better tires, can fit bigger brakes, etc.
And IMO, Crager SS wheels look a lot better on 1st and 2nd gens. Just a little too oldschool. Torq Thrust D wheels would give it a classy look, without looking out of place.

17" torq-thrust Ds have my vote. That's the wheel I was planning on getting, until I saw tpiroc's car. Then I saw a z06 with gray wheels instead of chrome. Perfect!
But anyway... I picked 17's for the better handling and more brake options. Go with what you like though!

17" all the way looks awesome. 17" with a set of 15's out back with slicks on em look killer too but thats a track only/going out on a friday at 1 am to make some money sort of deal.
The other thing is i think 15's with a ton of sidewall would be way too sloppy for my likeing. I even find my 16's have a little too much give to em hoping to get some 17's together for next summer.
