No amber taillights
So I bought some cans of Testors transparent candy apple red paint (item number tes-1605) today. To get rid of the amber. Now my question is, and yes i have searched about this before, but anyway back to the question. I know you can take the light apart and paint the inside, and i have also heard you can just tape off the outside and paint that. What job lasts longer and looks better?

I have not done this however I would imagine the inside would be better protected but doing the outside would look better. If you paint the inside you will look through the amber plastic and see the red, on the outside you actually cover the color and since you just spray it on I wouldn't worry too much about lasting along time since you can just spray them again if you need to.

i believe that is vht nightshade black paint. it is sold in summit. alot of people use that on their tailights.
I used the testors paint and just went over it with 2-3 light coats from a distance. It is holding up great and looks no different now then it did in august. I also added 3 coats of clear coat.

I like the red over amber on the Rear tailights. I got rid of the amber on my bird altogether, although I had to move the turnsignals up by the brake lights.
I would imagine painting the inside would last longer because it is not exposed to the elements.

looks good Jimmy. Got a couple questions for ya. Did you just paint over the amber part or did you do the amber part and the red parts? did you use any clearcoat also? thanks bro.
