Shaker Hood

I think this looks really sweet on a 4th gen. Has anyone ever done it to a 3rd gen?

Badandy247, The 4th gen "heritage TA" was actually made by GM as a one-off to go on tour. I think it looks awesome, especially the spoiler. I'd love to create a 2nd gen style spoiler for a 3rd gen (and i don't care for the 88 appearance package version). I did a few photoshops of it and i liked it, it wasn't received so well on the boards though

That car was built by GM.. It was built with the C5-R Camaro for show duty. I love it.

How is it fake? It shakes because it's on the engine. Now maybe it doesn't actually shake nearly as much as the second gens, but cool is cool.

I suppose it's not functional, but it's still a shaker.

I'm waiting for someone to cut a hole for their stealth ram.

Just because there is no carb doesnt mean the cowl cant function by letting the hot air out. I want one, but I have a Camaro... and putting a TA hood on a Camaro is like a TA with an SS hood.. it just looks dumb.

I wasnt calling it fake , I was referring to the cheap A$$ people who put the bolt on look-a-like shaker on a factory hood that doesnt do crap!
That is one mean T/A, at least GM could offer the body kits to let people make one themselves. What a waste.

Maybe you should take notice that no retro car sells past a year. Prowler, PT cruser, beetle, mini, tbird, and soon to be SSR. If GM made a retro fbody for the 5th gen, it would sell just like the fbodies of the 4th gen. Tons of enthusiasts bought them, but v6 sales sucked crap and brought total sales of both f cars under 100k. 16-17 year old girls dont like "old" cars.

Are the retro Beetle and Mini not selling well?

I am seeing more and more of them. Maybe only in CA they sell.

teh problem with retro cars is that after a couple years the novelty wears off and sales plummet.

you're probly seeing more just because..... there are more. and they're in the used car market now.

beetle sales are in the gutter. They have to release a new model like a vert or a turbo s to keep sales near a profitable level. After the italian job, the mini's sales went back down. I mean 24k for a mini? If I was gunna pay that much for a death trap, id get a geo metro 3cyl 5spd and put 23,500 into that thing and have it take off the ground.

i'm not saying they should make it as a retro car like the beetle or mini or pt cruiser or whatever i'm just saying that I really like the fender spats and big spoiler and shaker hood and that i think they add to the over all trans am effect

and that maybe if GM sees it fit to give us a fifth gen camaro that some of these styling cues can make it into the production of it not to make it look retro like the new mustang but just because they're sweet as hell and are part of the trans am heritage
