Firebird on Monster Garage
Anyone see the episode of monster garage today? They used an 86 Bird with a ferrari body kit on it as the base for the santa float. Anyone ever seen one of these ferrari body kits on a 3rd gen before? Looked like it fit on the car pretty well. Ah well, by the time the show was over another 3rdgen was pretty much dead.

yeah but does any else think it's messed up that they go and get this firebird kit ferrari, then strip it down to nothing!!! What's the point of getting the ferrari fiberglassed car if they're just gonna strip it down to the chassis?
oh well....

Im hoping by "
", you are being sarcastic. But just in case...its a firebird not a fiero...the made a reversed steering rack and drove the car in reverse. And I thought it wasn't a bad replica as far as crappy ferrari knockoffs go...at least it wasn't an LB9 or L98 that they mutliated. Nothing wrong w/ putting a six cylinder under the torch every once and a while for viewer ratings.
I thought it was a good episode. Supreme Member

IMO that car was gone before they started on it, very ugly and again another reason to not build a kit car-looked cheesy and flimsy-did anyone pay attention to the "new" rear deck when they ripped it off. That thing was a joke

It was definitely a mercy killing. I don't know any thridgen owners that would do such a thing to their car.

What a terrible way for the car to die? WTF?
The thing had a Ferrari body kit on it AND had a 2.8..who the **** cares...the owner that did it should've had the same fate lol

You know what the ironic thing is? About 3 weeks ago I saw the episode where they took the 78 Stingray Vette 454 and chopped it up into a monster truck. I mean no joke, they showed some dumb grease monkey taking out the perfect dash with a hammar. It pissed me off so much that I wrote a letter to the discovery channel asking them nicely to please not kill nice cars on that show and I said if they ever did any 82-92 F-bod I would cancel my cable. Well I never heard back from them but 2wks later, surprise! An 86 Firebird rolled into the shop to die.
To hell with that show, it was weak to begin with and now its just plain stupid. Jesse James needs to focus on building more badass bikes, they must be paying him an ***-load to stay on that damn show. Even he hates it...
(and no i didnt cancel my cable
)

Hey i bet the reason why they picked an FBODY was it is a cheap unibody car. I bet their little stunt wouldnt have worked on a full frame car, so they used a camaro...

Well I hardly ever watch the show, but on Fear Factor they are constantly using f-body's for their car stunts, or so I've seen from the few shows I watched. Like the second gen where they jumped through a wall and flipped it, or the third gens where they swerved between a semi.
Well good news is.... all these trashed f-body's make ours worth more
and does anyone know why they pick them? I guess they are cheap enough, and rear wheel drive, v8 power.... I dunno if us f-body enthusiasts should take it as a compliment or not as far as all these shows/movies ripping them up?
and when you say unibody, I thought most cars are unibody's, with the chevelle for instance being one of the few exceptions...
