how bout a tail lite like this

I Found this on a mini truck site, the lites are in the redish orange section of the tail gate, i was thinking of doing somthing like this to my car. All he used was plexiglass, bondo ,fiberglass sheets, and translucent paint.Like maybe i could make the firebird symbol into the plexiglass and mold it like he did. It would certainly be differnt. watch this thread get locked because the pic isnt a damn 3rd gen

It's a cool idea, but I doubt it's legal in Canada anways... for trailer car then it's a cool idea, but for something streetable... even if you don't get busted by the cops someone will likely rear end you and get away with it.

How many sleds do you know with a back window?? I would like to see a sled with exahust too....... ....

ANYWAY, there is just a law saying that you need lights that emit a red light when you press the brake....

It would probably not look as cool on thirdgen though.....

I could see it happening. Of course it would not be as big as that example on that truck, but I could see it happeneing. I had thought about doing this at one time, but when I got a price quote from professionals to have it done I gave up. Check out this thread here down towards the bottom where I talked about it. My idea was to have some custom taillight enclosures made that used the factory mounting methods and could accomidate different styles of lights. One of the styles I wanted to try was the tribal design very close to what you see in that pic. Now that I'm learning how to weld, I will try to make my own enclosures instead of paying a shop an arm and a leg to do it for me.

Correction, you need 2 brake lights to emit a red light visible from 500 feet away, according to Illinois state law, don't know how it is in rest of states.

I Like the smooth look, but I also like taillights, keeps people from rear ending you because not everyone has a keen sense of depth perception to notice your car is slowing down.

The truck in the pic is a cutom show truck the guy doesnt drive it on the road much and its so low because it has air bags. With a flip of a switch the bags inflate and the truck is drivable. But that is besides the point. Im just looking for something differnt, I'm tired of the boring old tail lite mods like putting a newer tail lite in a 85 firebird , I already smoothed my rear bumper to body lines(after everyone said it would crack)and im looking for something differnt,.. Like CrazyHawaiian said a tribal thing or a firebird logo or something, i have to get photoshop and try out some stuff to see how it would look.

I think some people miss the par that those are tailights...they light up when you hit the brakes. Its an interesting concept and I can see it on a thirdgen if it was in a different pattern. I don't think that tribal-esque design would work with a thirdgen, but definitely some sort of design could be made to work and it would definitely be different and interesting.

Why dont you just use clear blackouts a stencil and some paint clearcoat it and save yourself alot of money and headaches with the law? They will come off easy with no issues if you get pulled over!

Because thats cheap pathertic crap. And as long as your tail lites are visable(and those in the pic are) and functional you (at least here ) dont have any problems with the law.

Um some of us dont have alot of money to throw around and dont want potetal crap from the law. Plus if you do find somthing really tric and you have to change it back that cheap pathetic crap can be a savior. And besides I dont think its pathetic and I am proud of my idea so a simple thats not qwite what I was loking for would have done just fine.
