post pics of 17" or 18" wheels
I'm thinking about upgrading my wheels this winter. I presently have stock 16by8 Iroc wheels on my car. I want to upgrage to 17 inch wheels so that I can do the c5 brake upgrade. I would like to use a 17by8 or 9" rim in the front and a 17by 10.5 or 11" rim in the rear. I would like a 315mm tire to help with my traction problems.
I would like to see pictures of 17"or 18" wheels. I am interested all pics (of 17s or 18s) but am most interested in the wheels that you don't see everyday. If you could include a ballpark price that would also be helpful.
Thanks alot in helping with my decision.

I paid $200 a piece at the local tire shop, plus about $100/tire. They are identical to Torq Thrust II's. The only difference is the center cap, can't tell a difference when you stand back. I would've got the real things up I'm only 17, and I didn't have the money. I think the widest they sell those are like 17 x 9.5, which I wanted, but the tire place said they would rub
Oh well...

CorVM,
That is a great looking bird. Wow that is just really sharp. I love those last year birds and your car just emphasizes that.
Anyways, I went with the 17x9 ROH snypers. Great wheels for the cheap cost. More pics on my site.

Boyd Coddingtons. 18x8 front 18x9.5 rear. Many different styles and any size/fitment you want (they will custom order anything). My set was $2500 for everything inc tires. Website at www.billetwheel.com. I recommend www.sportruck.com as the distributor. Ask for Jeff.

Here's some wheels you don't see every day.
Just 17" alloys with 235/45ZR17 tyres. Not incredibly interesting, but I think they're only available in the UK so they'll be different for you guys

heres another good picture to show you the difference between 18's and 17's really shows that at least as far as appearance is concerned the 18's are the way to go
yep, that's a great one too!
as far as someone saying 980 is alot for a wheel you have to read close and understand that's what joe shmoe would pay walking into a tire store with no knowledge. typical places will charge you 6-700 a wheel for my exact wheel. i could probably get them for a little under 500 for just about anyone. i paid even less through a sponsorship but unless your car has some serious work we can't really talk about that type of pricing.....
just like with my rims and the company that made them all companies work similar. the more work you have done the cheaper things get.

just as a side note.................
i've been recieving alot of emails with people asking me to help them get better prices on wheels. i do not mind helping anyone out since i've been fortunate enough to find ways to do so but i ask that anyone who continues to ask me to help them help themselves first. there are a few rules that must be followed to do so.
1. yes i can get a little off on most wheels (at lest in the billet type) then most could just walking in a store but you will need to do the leg work for me which means find out the pricing you get from your local area tire shops.....not internet pricing....then call the company yourself and check the prices. ask them what you should pay. afterwhich i will try to help.
2. do not expect to get a 3,000 set of wheels for under 1,000 for a car with little to no work done. you want sponsorships, cheap parts, etc. you have to work for it.....there are no shortcuts here. i can help you with connections but you and your car have to prove to the companies in question that you can give them something in return.
it's a proven fact that nowdays modifications cost alot of money. to those who think people like myself spend that amount you need to look closer. at least with myself anyway i work hard to deal with companies to get the best prices i can which allows me to do the things i do, however don't get it wrong as i work for it. i have to attend a certain amount of shows as well as the many other things that are typically required. so in short anyone can do it but you have to work hard at it and get your car in a certain position that companies will want to invest in you. just as you would sell yourself for a job you have to sell your car to get discounts. once you get the first sponsorship the rest will come.....

Kandied:I didn't realize you were in Michigan, I am too, where are you at? I'd love to talk cars with you sometime.
Kory:You read car magazines? Check out a Chevy High Performance, there are a tone of wheels in there you would prpbably like. I'm getting 17" IROC replicas in polished finish. I can't go bigger because the proce difference in 17 to 18's is much higher than going from 16 to 17. Plus the roads in MI suck and lower sidewall will kill my rims and shocks.

Yeah I have seen some of those ads. The Irocs look cool but I wish they cam in wider sizes. A 10-10.5" rear wheel would be good.

well if you auto-x and take advantage of the 9.5 in the front more power to you. on the street the wider front tire tracks terribly as well as you can't lower your suspension if your into that.
8" is perfect in the front and then the wheel is actually in the well so it looks proper. most people can't out drive an 8" wheel as it is, the 9.5 all around just ends up being for looks.

What about 9" rims all around? I was thinking of running the ROH 9" Synpers (no spacers!) Could I get away with running a 275 tire all around? I just want to be able to rotate them. I also definately want to go larger than my stock 245 tire. I guess if I had to, I could run 8" in the front and 9" in the back. With the 8", what is the largest tire I could run? Oh, and would lowering with the pro-kit effect anything? Thanks.
