235/60 15's on the front

hi all

i posted the other post on fat rear tires and rubbing and found out that 275 50 15s would work on the rear but i dont want that huge of a tire on front. so im thinkin 235/60 15 bfg's up front wil they rub or anything turning from lock to lock or when turning and the scrub of em goin up n down?
thanks all

mainly like the other post im not concerned if they hit the fender flare or top mainly the inside of the fender well the closest part to the motor and struts n stuff.
but wondering if theyd rub or hit anywere during turned full lock to lock or goin up n down or combo of the 2 thanks.

any pics of that size on 15 inch rims would help to thanks all.

I think you should use that size all the way around. That is too wide of a tire to be putting on 8" wide wheels, let alone 7" ones.

i had thought of it but like i said in the other post the recommended size rim is like 7 to 10 and all and al they do if rims not wide enough is kinda baloon out as it gets to the top of tire were tread is.

the other post had a pic of orange camaro w/ them on it go check it out it looked fine.

may go w/ them all way but i dont know.
i love the huge fat tire lookin rear tho.

also rims goin on car is 8's

recomending 7-10 inches is a huge difference, youre straight line may be ok but your cornerings gonna suck with that big of a wheel on the tiny rim, way too much flex...

235/60/15s on a car without ground effects is fine, if u had ground effects there would be slight rubbing. Also, a 275/50/15 tire is very big and looks really dumb on a camaro, i bought a parts car that have those on the rear.

i dont think the 275 looks bad i mena yea its fat but thats the old style look now a days the looks a kinda fat tire maybe all round same width and lil old dinky side walls les then 2 inches fomr rim to tread which i dont like.

i am still considering 235/60s al round or thoose in frotn and 275 or265 50s in back.

or the factory size but smaller sidewall 215/60s only thgin i dont like about thoose is they smaller and i like for a tire to fill out the well some.

there were different factory options..... 215 and 235... both for 15s i believe the 235s should be fine.

I've got 245/60/15's all the way around. They do run in the front, but only when I'm backing up for some reason. I've gotten pretty used to backing up just right... I haven't had them rub in a really long time.

Here's a pic:

my car has 245's all the way around and my fronts are fine, the guy that had the car before was runing 255 all the way around and the fronts rubbed on the inner fenders a little. i think that im going o buy some 235/40/16s when i get some money, then i will put some 275/45/16s on the back. that is after these new tires wear down, they only have like 300 miles on them.

40 or 35 series look fine, but 50, 55, 60 series all have to big of a sidewall IMO, let me try to take a pic of a pic to show them.

there are the "big huge" 275/50R15's on back and 215/65R15's on front IMO they are not that big, also the car sits about an inch lower than this it is raised up on the trailer because the exhaust is sitting on the center rail of the trailer

I have 255/60/15's on the rear and 245/60/15's on the front and they don't rub at all. I don't have any ground effects, but Irocs and formulas came with 245/50/16's and they didn't have any rubbing problems.

No, they are centerline Spitfires but they were discontinued a couple of years ago. Those pics aren’t very good I was holding the camera over my head and it was shaking a little I am going to try to get some more pics today of my hood locks and mounts for a different post so I will try to get some better tire pics too

If you are going to get rims stay away from weld racing if you want I can show you why

i had 235/60/15 on the front of my old car and they rubbed a little until i cut a little of the inside fender with metal cutters. After that, no rubs!

Ok, I will try to keep this short . This happened a couple of years ago but I will never trust or do business with weld racing again in my life. These rims only had about 1300 miles on them and cost $400 each they had never been hit, curbed or had any damage to them in any way. The broken one was on the right front I was pulling away from an ATM and heard a clunk from the front end it sounded like a tie rod end so I stopped turned the wheels so I could see the tie rod and got out to look. What you see is what I found the hub had completely separated and the rotor was resting on the inside bottom of the rim. My heart about stopped I had my wife and two kids in the car with me, and if we had not stopped to get money we would of been getting on the interstate when this happened. I have met three people that have had the same thing happen with welds since then, the strange thing is all have been right fronts. After asking for pics I couldn't get weld to answer me for three months (in the mean time I had bought centerlines cause I got tired of waiting for them and we had shows we were committed to) when they did answer me all they said was they would give me free shipping on a new set of rims I will never buy anything from them again or ride in a car with their rims on it.

235 is the exact 60 series size for a 15" tire for these cars. It was the upgrade option size to go up from the 215/65-R15 while staying with 15" tires. So you can't go wrong with that size, front or rear. As Chuck Yeager would say, "they don't just fit, they match," lol.

If you got that hump on the backside down, they should work I have about 1/2" clearance where that hump is with the 275's

I am pretty sure its 3 3/8 on a 7" rim and before a bunch of people jump in here Goodrich recommends a 7.5"- 9.5" rim for the 275/50R15. I would of have ordered the spitfires for the rear in 8"
but what happened was after the weld rim broke I ordered one 7" spitfire from summit to see if I liked it and if it fit right, it came in on Friday and I mounted the tire and put it on over the weekend. Once I was sure I liked it I called summit back on Monday to order the other front one and two 8" for the rear the guy at summit says "oh didn't they tell you those have been discontinued and we only have three 7" ones left and by the way since you mounted a tire on the one you have you can't return it" so I got stuck with 7" on the rear. The tire has a little bulge but I would rather have that and a wider tire I don't think it looks too bad plus it doesn't rub anything with no mods.
Anyway mw66nova next time I am at the shop I will check them and let you know for sure. One thing, I assume you are going with a 8" rim I never rolled the fender lip, it looks like it will hit but it never has and I have a 4" drop, if you roll that you can probably pick up some space on the outside too

The 275/50R15 Goodrich TA's have a dia. of 25.9
The 235/60R15 Goodrich TA'S have a dia. of 26.1

So the 275's are .2 inches shorter than the 235's I don't understand why you think they are big. they are wider but thats the look I am after

maybe he is thinking of a 275/60 which is 28" tall, but my dad has those on his race car and they look pretty awesome if you ask me.
