In my book, it's all about the VIN. THAT'S the bottom line. I have no problem with changes, some I like, some i don't, it's when people change badges, or think a more powerful engine makes it a different car.

Taillights and IROC mudflaps maybe. And I think the ground effects were even different. I'm not sure, but when I had to replace a door, the guy told me the new door was off an 87 Z28(mines a 86 IROC), and the piece on the 87's door was a little bit skinnier than the one off the IROC. So I had to swap them. Oh well, just messing with ya.

One comment I have.. the IROC stickers looked like crap on the IROC's... dont put them back on or, if you do, have some made similar in style but, slightly smaller.

it looks good, and will look even better when painted. im gonna be puttin the 91-92 gfx on my roc too, and the high rise, i like em a ton better. to hell with wht anyone says. ive put so much time, effort and money into the car i got i cant see buying another one and starting all over. RU-QWIK and ES87s cars both inspired me. plus i like the SS hood and i think that goes along great with the 91-92 gfx. ill be running the 88-90 16s, surprisingly i think they look pretty good with the 91-92 GFX, just gotta polish em.

I forgot what you said about me putting the effects on, but the IROC stickers will stay cause I'm not taking them off anyway

And SLP- The rims will eventually be repolished and painted, but that'll probably be in the summer. I'm so lazy.

Ditch the IROC wheels with those GFX and go with some aftermarket wheel. The IROC wheels and IROC door decals with those GFX just don't work together. Some nice 17" aftermarket wheels and the correct TPI badging on the rear bumper and it will great.

Dude, I think the new ground effects will look great. I am going to do the samething. I have started collecting the pieces to do this. Can you give any pointers, how hard is the change over. Are there alot of holes to be drilled or will they just bolt up?

If I was made of money, I'd look for some rims. But, I think these will do fine for now once I repolish and paint them.

The door decals are not going anywhere.

TPI? Whats TPI?


Mike1: If you are changing over from a car with ground effects, its not hard. I haven't done the front valence yet, but I only had to drill 10 holes and elongate some others. Its pretty easy to do, it took me maybe two hours, probably less.

Considering how long it's been since you're 1st post agbout starting this.. I'm not suprised . (cliffnote... selling the new to buy the old to make it look like the newer.. lol)
Anyways... considering how you previos looked.. I'm sure this will look even better. As far as the stickers.. that was my mistake thinking you were removing them (read a little more than was there). I still don't like them but, I'm not seeing why they will look any more out of place with the new fx as compared to the old.. it's not like you're putting a evoluzione kit on and leaving the decals...

My personal opinion only... Ithought it looked good before. It will look good again after the paint. However, after seeing the finished product on es87iroc's car, I have to agree with an earlier post. The 91-92 gfx make me think 91-92 with IROC-Z stickers. I have seen so many mid-80s z28s with IROC-Z decals. They look ridiculous. I think the IROC-Z sporting the 91-92 gfx would look better and not get the "ghetto" first impression from others. It IS still an IROC-Z, but the look has been altered to anothert first impression.

OK, I'm not going to say anything else about your car. It seems the RS I just bought has an idenity problem also. I like the wheels but the Gold will be getting blackened soon, along with a good polishing.

Oh, and the 6 banger is getting tossed for something a little better.

I do see where you are coming from, and I would think the same thing if I saw the car on the streets. But I'm keeping the IROC hood and wheels as well, so it won't look as much like an attempt at a clone. Who knows though, maybe once I have them on and painted I won't like the decals with the ground effects. I can always take them off.

And 84customz28: I will be taking the pinstripe off at first, since I don't have one on the bumper. Then I will put it all together without it and see if I like it. If I like it, the stripe is gone for good. If I don't like it, I'll get another one.

I'm going to be doing the same process here sometime in the next little while. I've got a 91 RS bumper and 91-92 GFX sitting in my garage waiting installation on my 87 IROC-Z.

If you can take pics of the actual drill holes and what needed modification, it'd be MUCH appreciated as I have little to no experience with GFX installation/removal.

Yeah, I know the hoses are a mess, but it definately runs.

If I remember to, I'll take pics of the holes next time I work on the car. But I've never done any of this before either, and its really not hard at all.
