New Guy's ride
I'm pretty new here, but I'd thought it would be a good idea to introduce my car. Its an 86 Iroc, with about 38K on the clock. What do you guys think? Here is the interior shot, pretty stock except a new radio. It also needs a new headliner, its sagging over the passenger side, pretty bad, but you can't see it in the pic.

Here is a shot of the passenger side. Its being stored up at my grandparents condo while they are in Palm springs. My grandparents only own one car here, because my grandpa is legally blind, so there's an extra spot. If you can see along the front of the quarter panel towards the hood, there is a small dent (curtious of my sister) anyway, I'm wonder if like a paintless dent place could fix that or is it worse than that? The engine is a LG4 so nothing special there, going to start a new engine build in the next couple months.

Thanks guys for the compliments, I have definitely been enjoying this site so far, everyone seems real friendly and there are some sweet rides on here. I try to keep it as clean as I can. I really like the color when I bought it. As far as the engine goes, I'm probably going to build it myself, since I really like that stuff, and probably go with a 383. I'm not sure yet, and I'm the worst person when it comes to making a decision. Thanks again guys!!

Wow, thanks again guys, I bought it freshman year of college (1999) after saving up through high school. I really liked the low mileage, but I have to admit that I really didn't know much about them back then, hence teh 305. Nonetheless it is still fun to drive.
Yea, my sister did the dent, I parked it inside, and she was leaning over it to get something that in front of the car, she pushed in the fender just a bit with her hip (she's skinny as hell). I was ready to stomp her, but stuff happens and she was sorry. So it was cool, but I still have to fix it.
SLP - Yea, I am a huge fan of that color. Its got the metallic flakes which look really sweet in the sunlight. Your car looks very clean too. Do you have much done to it? When I need to repaint my car I'm doing it in the exact same color.

Hahaha - yea, I probably should of spell checked that one, I suxs at teh spmellig.
Thats a nice side shot jcurrie, I like the 87, it doesn't have the high third light, but it keeps the style of the 86, looks good. What are your engine plans??
Stngklr - I was almost not going to buy it, but it felt so good when I was test driving it, couldn't pass up that feeling. Also, I worked for a guy in Cleveland a while ago for an internship (commercial engineering firm) who used to work for GM in the 80's. We were talking about my car, and the 86's. I told him about the engine, and he was saying how GM gave him and his coworker an 86 iroc for a driver, and he thinks it might have been one of the 50, because of how they gave it to him and bla blah, not to say that I am thoroughly convinced, but it could be....
Jimmy - I'm hoping they could pop it out, that would be so great, do you know anything about pricing?? or the process they use? Huge fan of Strongbad and the Teen Girl Squad, TROGDOR!!! hahaha
I was kinda wondering why some camaros have the door ding protectors? was it an option or dealer installed? just curious. And nice ride by the way RJ, what wheels do you have on there?
oh and soon as I get a new motor in there those miles will be a thing of the past, so don't worry Kandied.
And thank you everyone for the compliments, this is such a nice community.

Hmmmm. Interesting process on the dent removal. I'm going to have to check it out. Probably cheaper than a new fender right?
Kick the cheat? that sounds totally sweet! How about a case of cold ones and kick the cheat? HAHAHAHA.
BirdsofPray - hehehe, I choose the name mostly from a joke my brother and I were goofing on. I think it was a quote from an Arnold movie, I think he says "today I'm going to talk to you about Thomas Aquinas". Man we thought it was so funny. Anyway thanks for the compliments about the color, it is my favorite feature about it, cause you know it ain't the motor !!!
One a detailing note:
What do you guys use on your interiors? I used to used Armorall, but I've heard soo many bad things about, so now I really don't used anything.
I've been meaning to try a Meguiars product, like for vinyl, anybody use meguiars?
Thanks

Meguiars Natural Shine is a good one! Leaves a good finish with less of the dirt attracting greasy feel that armor-all leaves behind...

ahhh ppl say armorall will crack your dash...but then again ppl say it will crack your tires too....ive always used the stuff for yrs and yrs now and havnt seen craking from it.....i dont really care if its greasy...thing is everytime i do the dash i Spray nine off all the old stuff so i dont have a greasy build up then give it a new coat. Id rather use a water based product like armorall then a produck that has silicon and teflon in it...its a bi$#&* if you need to paint anything later on your car (hence my rims this yr).
i think the door ding was a stock piece for all camaros.
about the 3rd brake light i like the look of it in my wing but the replacment light is alot of $.
About my engine plans.... mmm im thinking if i run into some money (dreaming hahah) ill get a fastburn gm or the ZZ4 gm create motor.
Im also keeping my eye out for a whole car for a LT1 or a LS1 swap....
but more then likely ill wait for a yr or two more and get a mildly suped up 350 carbed motor maybe bored or something and a nice cam and intake and carb for starters.

hmmmm. Natural Shine eh? I'm going to have to pick some of that up. Yea, I've heard people say it will crack your dash and what not, I've used it for a while and it hasn't cracked yet, but I'm still willing to try something new on it.
I guess that the only thing I don't like about my car, is the high glass mounted third brake light, I'd love to get ride of it, but I think its very hard. Is there two holes drilled in the glass??
jcurrie - engine choice is probably the hardest desicion you'll have to make in your life, marriage is a close second. hahaha. I was thinking crate for awhile, then shortblock, now I think I'm going to build my own. I've finally saved up money again, and I am now kinda laying out my engine on paper. Good luck with yours!
