I just ordered the same kit as Kandied last night. I also ordered Summits chrome power steering pump, which is the keyway pulley style BTW, and this will all go along with the chrome Powermaster alt I already have. With this setup and the new heads, chrome timing cover and all stainless bolts this engine should look pretty sharp when I'm done. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm done.

Ok here comes more questions. I want to order this kit this week but first I need to figure out what I NEED and not WANT. Like i said earlier, if I have to change the pump and then get a 6 rib pulley then I might a well get an electric Proform pump for $189. Second, I want the mid mount kit but I dont need the PS pulley and alt right now I already have the March underdrive alt pulley. SO I only need the new 2 row crank pulley and brakets right? Anyone know how much this crank pulley cost? I cant find it on the site.

pretty sure the crank pulley is # 6331 6 rib alt, 5 rib p/s think mine was 89.00 at a local speed shop.

i pieced mine together off the internet and saved a few bucks. ebay is your friend, most of the time.

you can actually get them off ebay for like 119. good luck on your project. i have a march alternator pulley cover if you need one.

has a gouge in it. pay for shipping and its yours.

not show quality, but looks better than seeing a rusty bolt. LMK

well guys, the kit is in my house. I broke down and ordered the mid mount setup for the electric water pump. I only got the silver powercoated style. Im sure I can polish these brackets at a later date. They look simple enough to sand and polish. as for the pulleys. I already have a polished alt pulley from a older kit and Im gonna try and use that one if it has the same amount of ribs. The PS pulley is flat and is easy to sand and polish. the crank pulley is another story but its way down low so Im not worried about it looking perfectly polished. polishing these parts myself will save me around $200. money saved means more money for other parts

Kandid. that crank pulley you have, is that the same diameter as the stock pulley. my crank pulley is huge and I though it would be the same diameter as there underdrive pulley.

thanks for clearing that up. I guess I could have got underdrive pullies to go with this kit but all well.

March is designing a new PS pump in billet aluminum. Not sure if anyone has heard. It is in the new mini catolog. They have two versions, one complete PS pump and one is just the case,. you must use your stock PS pump internals if you want just the case. . they look like killer pieces but as of now they have no price or date for avail. it is still being manufactured. Just thought I would pass this along. BTW, from the looks of the pic of it, I bet it will cost more then the this whole kit cost. And thats the polished kit Im talking about.

they are manufacturering an entire power steering pump. Not just the pulley. The look of it is even different than the stock looking pump. They are 2 versions, 1 is the entire pump with resovior and cap and the other is just the case. if you buy just the case then you must use your stock internals from your pump. I have a pic of it from there new catolog but there is no pic of it on there site yet.,,,,,,I dont think so anyway

i see....i just read it as pulley when you said pump. sounds interesting although i don't know if it's worth 5-600 for it. no one even sees my pulleys let alone a pump too.

if you want something small and inexpensive, you can get a cavalier pump from the dealer. march and zoop make bracketry to fit a small block. it has a remote resevoir. i have not done this on my own setup, but a friend has it and it loooks cool. the hole set up was like 320 + the stainless rack and pinion lines he had made

anyone here running the mid mount kit with a Proform electric water pump. That is what I have and the two 5" bolts that hold the alt bracket to the water pump are to short. Anyone have this problem with the supplied bolts. Its about 1/2" to short. Also, what years GM cars have the 6 and 10 alt altenators? I need one now and autozone cant get on for me now. How sells polished or chrome ones for a serptinine pulley?

6 and 10 alternators? you mean the clocking? 6 and 12 on my march setup. get one for a 87 305 carbed z28 and you should be good. plug is the same on the 87 as it is for the 88+ alternator. known as the CS series FYI.

good luck

Im looking at the pic above of the kit with the electric water pump and it look s to me like the alt in that pic is the SAME one Iuse on my car. It is the 2 and 6 position. Th epic shows the small relocation bracket that is supplied in the kit I got but it still will not work whe I boilt it up.

5L EaTeR, have you put your kit together yet?

Alsom if I find a 6 and 12 alt then can I just take the guts out of it and put my high amp guts in it?

do you have a custom built alternator? the 87 style 6 and 12 clocking i have came in a 105amp version.

it does appear that you may be able to use your alternator, becuase the kit has the relocation bracket. i would contact march and get a 100% sure answer before you waste money on a new alternator.
