look,
I'm not trying to start a flame war here as that's not what this thread was intended to be..

All I know is the wiring harness modifications take 3 hours. At your shop rate that's $180. My friend charges ~$300-$400 depending on the options. He spliced my '93 LT1 harness into my '72 Vega harness in 2 hours flat.

I've pulled 3 TPI motors, each time taking ~6 hours by myself. With a friend I could probably manage 4.5-5 if we both had power tools.

I'm only speaking from personal experience here, not trying to **** anyone off.. I also understand that where you live, it would be harder to find shops than where I live (Southern California).

BTW, I like the color of your car. Is that the factory color?

As well, if I pissed you off, I'm sorry. That wasn't my intention.
later,
colin

It's a custom color, basically the factory teal color, just a little darker......

if you think you can do that no problem come on up with your parts.

dude, does this mean i can use your shop!?

seriously though, by the time you get the prep work done (ie have the parts ready at hand, know what you're connecting where wire wise, ect..) the physical parts swap isnt to hard...

and id love to use your (or anyone elses) shop...

edit:
i wasnt suppost to share the suprise.

how can you possibly be speaking from personal experience, when you admitted earlier that you have never done an ls1 thirdgen swap. sounds like the only thing you are sure of is the time spent on the harness, which is probably one of the easiest things to do. besides, if you could have done it so much better for so much cheaper so much faster, why didnt you offer to do it for him.

edit: sorry flyinlow, this guy distracted me from my origninal point, car looks FANTATASTIC, i cant wait to hear what it runs. I also like your wing, i mean i wouldnt get one, but it is what makes YOUR car, if you took it off it would no longer be flyinlow's car, you know?

Why does everyone give this guy such a hard time? Now personally I wish you had kept the TBI and seen what you could have done with it. That'd be unique to have a fast 305 TBI. Hmmmm wish I had the money. :lala:

I've done LS1 swaps in older vehicles, including one in a '56 Chevy truck. Have 'you' done any? I'm also almost done my LT1 swap into my '72 Chevrolet Vega. Have 'you' done one? Yes, this is getting off-top but I've also done these kinds of swaps so I know the effort that goes in.

Regardless, his car is cool, and it's fast. I give him props for that. I'm not trying to make enemies, but I work part-time at a shop that 'does' these swaps so I 'can' speak from my experience. Just because I haven't done a thirdgen doesn't mean I would have trouble. The shop just finished a 4thgen LS1 conversion into a '97 M6 Z28.

Late,
Colin

Is the motor stock? Please tell me you at least slid a cam in there while it was out. If you need any parts or tech assistance, you can call me at the shop. I can send you some LS1 edit files if you need help tuning the thing.
