68 or 69 Z28 emblems

I was just curious and had an idea, but what is the diffrence between the 68 z28 fender emblems and the 69 z28 emblems. every book I look at the only diffrence is where the mounting is. but in year one, classic industries, etc. etc. they use diffrent part #'s so their must be a diffrence in the two. but I can't get a good enough picture to tell the diff. the reason why i ask this question is I'm thinking of filling in the rocker panels ahd putting the 68 or 69 fender emblems on the fender.
Thanks

your idea has already been played around with for years, in fact I was just talking about it last month in the "RS to SS" thread, if you look I posted a few pics of the Z/28 emblems and the old rs emblems and some SS stuff. I believe it would look great, just buy them, fill in your rockers as stated, then grind down the back side (the mounting stuff) and get something to glue or stick it to the car with, then it will mount flush.

That, or I thought of even taking a pic to the sticker store and having them replicate it (color and all), that would be cheaper and fast, and if you don't like it you can remove it.

Good luck

I'm pretty sure the difference has to do with the color of the Z being lighter in 68 and darker in 69. Not completely positive though.

I was toying around with basically the same idea myself, using vintage Z28 badges on my '83.

I think the only difference between them is that the '68s are a bit smaller and more subtle looking. I could be wrong though.

Myself, I was thinking of using the cast Z28 badges that they used from '70-74. They look kinda like the '69 badges, but with no slash (Z28 instead of Z/28) and the letters are a little fatter looking.

Lemme see if I can find a couple pics of all three ('68, '69, 70)...

Here ya go... I'll probably be using the '70 badges myself.

so from the way the pics look the 68 badge is smaller than the 69. I've been looking at the 70 but the 28 part is not white and won't stand out on a black car. so I'll probably go with the 68 badge. from classic for like $25 a piece.
Thanks for yalls help.

Personally, those badges dont flow with the whole 3rdgen era at all.

I like them alot, like with my car, nice bright red, with that redish Z/28 would look nice, it would also look good on silver, black, white and greens (the old 60's green).

If you pull it off right, it will look great...

Actually, I think with the right colored car (white, black, silver or red) any of those badges would look cool. The '70 would look best IMO though.

As long as you dont over do it, it would look cool.

I'd avoid the big badges though, like the ones on the back of the '69. Use the smaller side badges, and it would look cool.
