Someone backed into my baby
Well it was bound to happen, not even 2 months after I insure it and put it on the road, some jerk doesn't look where he's going and backs into my baby.
I am just wondering what I should ask for? my bumper cover is already dinged up, but do you think the insurance place will re-paint the entire gfx and bumper?
And if not what are some pointers so that I can get the most outta this, I heard a crack when he hit me, if you see the pic, the two scrapes on the left and right side of the pic of my bumper, that was FLAT against his car. he pushed it in pretty far

I would say you should be able to get the ground effect and bumper painted too, he scratched it further, and there is no way to just touch it up. Just look carefully, make the light bar is ok, there are no cracks in the cover, bascially find every little bit of damage he did, and have it repaired. I'm just waiting for somone to back into my car so they have to buy me a new 91 front ground effect

I hope you got a police report, you don't want the guy to claim your rear-ended him later, unfortunatly there are scumbags like that out there

I backed into a high curb once, and heard a nasty crack, I still cannot figure out what it was, the bumper cover is fine, no broken bolts, the support is fine, i'm guessing it was just shifting around.

I never got a police report, but the reason that I got hit was because I was stopped waiting for two kids to walk in front of my car, i watched em go from my right to the left, and once i looked back straight again some guy had pulled outta his parking spot, swung the wheel, and his front end swung around into my bumper, the two kids that i let pass in front of me let me use them as witness' and the angle of his damage shows it wasn't my fault, how his car is damaged i would have to have been 4x4ing over the curb and shrubs to hit him.
And yes I got him, just cause I was in my car when he hit me, and I DO have collision, but its not my insurance that will be covering this one

Get a police report to cover your own azz, or you could end up paying for the repairs yourself.
Then get a couple of estimates from some shops - the insurance company may have some approved shops to go to; they won't take estimates from every shop.
Good luck...

I don't think in most states they can have approved shops, because the aproved shops probably make less on the insurance claims from that company, and don't do such a great job.
Yes you can still get a police report. It might not be much good though. If the police came to the scene and got the witnesses to explain what happened, the police would document it as it was told. Without the witnesses being at the police station and the other driver being there, the police report will only be used to show that the car was involved in a motor vehicle incident. If the guy is willing to take care of it, get a reasonable estimate and don't try to rip the guy off. Accidents happen and if he is willing to accept blame and pay for his mistake, work it out. Offer to have him pay the shop instead of you and he will feel like your being fare and honest and he'll be more willing to work with you.
As for approved shops, this is a term used by the insurance company for a body shop that they trust on estimates. If the shop is reputable and offers quality work, the insurance company will allow you to take the car there, get an estimate or leave it there for repairs and they will deal directly with the shop.

you will probably need to get a new bumper cover because it will begin to spider web from the impact of the crash. I had the same thing happen to me once and just painted the bumper and it began to spider web a few months later. Just warning you so you don't spend money having the old bumper painted and it be ruined a few months later. The guy that hit you should have to pay for this as well.

No way they're going to pay for the cover if it isn't cracked. It probably spider webbed because they did a lousy paint job, and it got hit lightly by somthing, or maybie heating/cooling expansion?
