Hail damage Video
http://members.***.net/mhughes10/haildamage.wmv
right click on link (3.5 meg) and save target (link) as.....to your computer, make sure you don't save it as a txt file.
Here is my 88 Iroc after the 04/21/04 Hail storm. I was at work when it hit so I couldn't do anything to stop the damage. I made this video at my grandparents about an hour after storm moved out of the metro.
I only have liability insurance so if I decide to fix it, the money comes out of my pocket.
My grandparent's neighbor is a car salesman and he told me there was AT LEAST $1500 worth of damage to the car. The video doesn't give the damage justice but ya'll get the idea. It is worse in person.
Damage includes: cracked windshield, totalled hood, roof almost as bad as the hood, dented fenders, broken passenger rearview mirror.....no telling what else.
Should I try and fix it or sell it and find something else? Either way it will be awhile before I can come up with some spare money to do anything.
If I get something else, I might end up getting a LT1 4th gen because their prices are similar to the nice 3rd gens around her. 4th gen would probably be easier to get full coverage on anyway.
What do you guys think?

Hmmm....um damn, That really sucks. If that happened to my camaro I'd probably cry. No doubt. As far as fixing it, it's going to be alot due to most of the body being damaged. I would most likely look for something else. Maybe part the car out, or sell it.
That is a real tough one. Again sorry about the mishap.DUECE

Sorry to hear that guys i was in south okc at carries auto salvage and i saw that big cloud trying to tornado around downtown okc.It was not a pretty sight very scary.Luckily i live in Edmond and THANK G.o.d my 82 t/a wasn't touched.I wouldn't know what to do if it had got damaged.I'm ready to buy bubble wrap and bubble wrap my car.HEY its cheap insurance. One of my teacher's mustang got hit hard and he has to pay $2500 to fix the damage.I can tell you he wasn't in a good mood today. At least it was a rustang so i don't feel that bad for him

Couln't see the video yesterday so no reply was needed. Today,.....ouch.
The salesman that said $1500 in damage is just that, a salesman. That car is gonna cost more than $1500. The damage is severe, so paintless dent removal is not an option. If PDR was an option, you'd be looking at over $2k. A body shop would replace the fenders, hood, rear hatch, glass, mirrors, probably a new roof skin and then repaint. I say more like $3k-$4k.

My car was ravaged by hail, even with about 18 thick bath towels covering it. Probably saved the windows. It was so intense, the hail left bruises on my arms while trying covering it up.
Maybe I should have tried to out run it. With my LO3 ha

I outran a tornado last year in my Iroc. My g/f and I got out of the movie theater and there was a tornado heading pretty much right at us. While all of the other people stood infront of the theater (all glass panels btw) my g/f and I jumped in the Iroc and got on the interstate and did 125mph all the way back to my grandparents house (safer than our apartment). We were flying past tornado sirens going off. That was nuts.

My friend hit a mailbox, crumpled his fender, dented the pillar and a few chips, He got quoted over $2200 worth of damage just for that, He had full coverage though, Took the check, Fixed his fender, And spend the other $1400 on mods!
