another headlight idea for firebird.. grand prix?

okay, you know the 90-96 grand prix headlights? do you think it would be able mount them at the same height as the bumper, if they were far enough back... refer to 1983FBody's car... but think of a smaller light, with a black tray underneath it...
if grand prix lights were used, then it would definetly be DOT approved

wow. those are small...
now my idea is to but a tray underneath (even with the bumper) and recess them back (i.e. 1983Fbody),

so basically instead of using the stock headlight, use the grand prix with a tray underneath.. what do you guys think?

The only problem I could see is, by setting the light further back, it may kill the beam dispersion. If done right, it may not look bad.

Here's a comparison between the stock 'bird lamp and GP

i don't think it would disrupt the beam, because if you look at the grand prix in the picture above... the headlights are already pretty far recessed in the car... anyways, my right headlight on my flip up lights just burned out, so i maybe attempting this soon.

My apologies for the apparent double post.

The only reason for me to make my claim is, even with the actual GP, the headlights are not recessed back as far as the oem 'bird lights (though it appears as so). To double the depth that the lamps are mounted would seem to cut the dispersion. Granted, this is just a guess on my part. I could easily be wrong. I'm not critising the theory, just looking at a potential drawback.

As long as you can find a light that size... it may work alright. Driving lights are probably going to be your best bet on something like that though.

And also, why is it people seem to have to introject usless drivel into a post when it's in no aid or use to the topic ?

nolanr.. if I weren't so far behind at on other projects at the moment, I wouldn't mind helping you out.

Dingly... I don't remember which post it was but, here is height comparo of the GP light next to the turn lamp. I believe I was trying to explain why the GP lamp was too large and would be shrouded if it were fixed as the above pix you posted (I think that made sense ?)...
