Make it out of fiberglass and paint it body color.

Mold your own out of ABS with a heat gun?

fiberglass isn't efficient for the idea. the plastic may work but where would i get such a piece that would be workable...i might as well try reforming the stock piece i suppose.

ABS comes in many thicknesses, and can be cut to any shape you want, then heated while being formed to retain the curves you want. Maybe use some poster board as a template, then cut the same piece out of ABS and use a heat gun to make the bends.

I would just use the ABS plastic to cover any areas where dirt and other stuff are prone to getting stuck, basically just make it so everything will wash right back down, out of the wheel well....

yeah that's what i'm trying to do. i can't keep the stock gm piece because the tire pushes up on it when the car drops down...need something that tucks up a little more and i don't want to leave it bare. not only does it look terrible but then it will get really dirty on the road.

Just google for ABS Plastic and I'm sure you'll find a few dealers, check the yellow pages too.

Is there no way to modify the stock piece in such a way that will move it a little higher up, out of the wheel's way?

Try www.mcmaster.com They have everything.

scroll down to raw materials and you'll find plastics. They have it all.
