window problems

hey... Im having 2 problems with my windows. 1 is that when I roll them up & down they seem to scratch the tint on my windows, what to do? The second thing is I need to know what the lining/striping is called that covers both sides of the windows(& how much $$) because I need to replace it. Mine is all torn and when I roll up my window the strip seems to hang off the side of my door & flap around. THanks

They're probably getting scratched because your seals/stripping is shot. I'm not sure what car you have but for a Firebird/Trans Am (hell, they're probably the same for Camaros too) the numbers are as follows:

The outer stripping: Driver side 10124265, Passenger side 10124264 - $18.98 each
The inner stripping: Driver side 12394511, Passenger side 12394510 - $46.75 each

The inner stripping is expensive because it is the entire door panel top plastic piece - that's the only way you can get it from the dealer. Call Dal at VanDevere Motors, tell him you got his name on the Internet Thirdgen site for a discount: 1 (800) 362-9494.

Howdy there, one other possiblility could be the brace pieces inside your door. They look like an L shaped chunk of metal that bolts to the door with a ten mm bolt, and the bottom leg of the L is covered with felt like material and they simply support the window. There is one about 8" to 12" from the back of the door, and another about a foot past that one towards the front. They are underneath the upper plastic trim piece on the inside of the door. Cost is like six or eight dollars a piece. Just one more thing to look into, take care now.

Don't know brother, call up Dal and ask him. Just tell him you want to double check these numbers for your ROC...
