air springs

I was looking for lowering springs in my jegs mag an came across air springs for 82-98 camaros. I was wondering if anyone ever bought a set for there car. I think the sell them for 65.99 for one. It says it comes with all the hardware but iam curious what the ride would feel like.

doesn't replace the coils, this goes on the inside of the springs and is inflated for extra traction in dragracing

depends, what section are you in? if your in the air ride section which i believe is mostly air lift products that are made here in michigan then yes they are a bag that replaces the spring however they are of the older single style design and probably won't ride as nice as your springs. don't forget unless you plan on sticking with manual valves and stopping at a gas station every once in awhile you'll need air hose, tanks, guages, etc. to monitor everything just like a professionally setup air ride system.

i have a set of those air lift bags. i haven't installed them yet though. i already have the car lifted with 02 ws6 springs and air shocks. i might put them in now though since i have the rear out for my 9bolt PBR swap.

guages for air bags? unless your serious about dragging, i don't see the need. or if you want the look... i'm going to have too many guages clusted in my dash, no need for any more

if your going to replace a solid spring with an airbag it only makes sense to hook up a guage to monitor your pressure, you start to go low its good to know. i wouldn't trust them with my life not being able to see how much pressure is in them at any given time.

i have 4 digital guages for my own as well as line pressure guage and tank guage for good measure.

ohh i thought you were talking about gurages to the air lift bags, not the whole replacement of the coil. i don't think those air springs are designed for the 3rdgens. all the airsprings in the jegs catolog are designed for small trucks and older cars. i don't understand why someone would want to replace a coil anyways.

no they carry air bags made by air lift that will replace your coil. i have air bags on the rear of my car and air struts on the front so i no longer have springs anymore. as to why you would want to replace them....

well i have complete ride height adjustment as well as stiffness and softness. the technology in air ride in general is so much nicer then it use to be....it's great to be able to have the car lowered for cruises and what not but then you can quickly raise it for getting up steep obstacles or adjust pressure for when your racing, unfortunately it's just a little pricey.

pricy? oh yes, must be. i don't understand why people would want to lower the car if its a daily driver. sure you gain handling, but you lose ground clearence. its also a harsher ride compared to a lifted or even stock hight car. i can understand for show or autocrossing purposes though. i lifted mine way up for traction and i never have to worry about ground clearence. maybe i'll run true duals someday. i also like how i can stuff an insanely wide tire under there and lift it to fit my needs. i hear you on the adjustment part

i dislike lifted vehicles.....i can't stand that i have to raise the camaro up to stock height when driving so that i don't scrape my lt's or 4" exhaust on terrible michigan roads. i will agree about lowered vehicles and their ride, that is until i had air bags. i recently had to remove my lowering kit on my gtp because the car rode so terrible. the car looked great but it killed me on my hour long daily commute to work. now that it's back to stock height it rides terrific but i can't stand to look at it. with the airbags i can have everything i want with a lowered look and good ride too.

nothing says cool or aggressive like a low stance.....now when you consider sitting on the ground that is best left for car shows and lowriders. i do it for show but that's it. it's fun to have 12" of lift at the touch of a button, jacking points and speed bumps are no longer a problem.

but why would you lower your car just for the look? you risk so much just for looks by doing that... i'd just fill the space wit ha larger tire or wheel. i'm very picky when it comes to wheels also. i've installed hundreds of customs for people and sometimes i just pass on the job because i dislike the wheel so much. heh, can you tell i stand strong with my thoughts?

well not only do i prefer keeping the tire the same dimension so with that and running a large rim you would obviously need a thinner tire. doing this makes for some serious wheel well gap. lowering the car makes it handle and perform better but it just doesn't take bumps well. as i said reason why i had to raise my gtp up.

the nice things with the bags is that someone like myself can have a lowered car but in 1 sec have it raised up to help this sort of thing. that and i can variance presure when using a 4 way setup so i can have it stiff or soft at almost any height. this coupled with a 12 way adjustable strut and i can have a car sitting on the ground that rides great or one raised up perfect that handles bumps.

for our cars much lower the a eibach pro-kit and it's a bit much i agree...but it looks cool.

thanks guys for the info, kandied91z how much was your complete air ride system. In your opinion do you think the ride would be better with the air springs or with the eibach lowering springs. An do you know how low the air springs will lower my car.

your asking a very confusing mix of questions. air ride can be made by a large group of items. so it really depends on choice and how much knowledge you have on working with cars.

a single air bag is anywhere from 20-50 dollars where as air struts run anywhere from 800-1500 a set.

just go with springs and call it a day.
