Fourth gens are wider than third-gens. Why do you think a fourth gen rearend will not fit a thirdgen...because it's wider! I think it is going to look wrong.

Yes you can what exactly?!?

Put a fourth gen T/A bumper on the groud behind a thirdgen?

Getting it on the car let alone look right is another story altogether.

Good luck though!

Good lord why?

If you like the look of a 4th gen T/A, buy a 4th gen T/A. Don't hack up your camaro.

But i suppose the key word there is your, so hack away.

dude this is an appearance board and all were talking about is a rear bumper cover, so when someone says rear in this thread, assume theyre talking what the entire thread is about.

Im my mind a perfect fit is when I can take a rearend, bolt it into my car, and mount my wheels (GTA wheels) without spacing modifcations or having them sick out past the fender. In other words it would look stock. And with a fourth-gen rearend, you can't do that. So no I'm not wrong.

ok, if you need something to be that close then i guess you are right, for me a perfect fit can have some slight things off, but require no modification

Its his car let him do what he wants. He didn't ask if you thought it was going to look stupid, he was showing what he's trying to do.
Dont flame people for their ideas. You do what ever you want with your car. Some people will love it, others will hate it. But in the end do what you think is best.

I say right on for being original. Taking the some old and some new and making something completely different is what makes people turn their heads.

I'm interested to see the outcome, and for those who say, just buy a 4th Gen, well if you want a fast car, just buy a ferrari...

Yeah man, its unique but I dont know how you would tie that in with the rest of the car. 3rd gen camaros dont really have the curvy style of that bumper cover. Its your car though...

Who said it was going to be a perfect fit? Besides, even if the dimensions are off, its possible to make it fit. The only thing holding you back is your imagination. 4th gen rearends will bolt into a 3rd gen, only difference is the wheel offset/backspaing. That has no bearing on how wide a 4th gen bumper is compared to a 3rd gen bumper. The shapes are so different there is no way this would ever be "bolt-on." For all you guys know, he might be planning on molding the lower portion of the 4th gen bumper into the stock 3rd gen one, retaining the 3rd gen bumper lines. It might not look as horrible as some of you think. I cant wait to see the finished product. I've always been a fan of bodymods.

I think to make it look right you would have to do alot of work to the rest of the gfx as well. Also have to have 1 hell of a good body man work on it.

You've got my support, i think it will look cool, and if not, it wil be different, and its not permanent, so your not STUCK with it forever.
and the statement jsut buy a 4th gen? 1: there expensive 2: jsut cuz he likes the rear bumper doesnt mean he should buy the whole car and 3: third gens are way better anyways...

Most people can afford a fourthgen, and a lot more people can afford a thirdgen. Posting a comment like "go buy a fourthgen" has no merit, no relevance, and no point. Curb yourself from hitting "reply" every now and then.

NEEDforSPEED, I've gotta say I definitely see the appeal here. I hope you get it to fit!

I think that the 4th gen comment is quite relevant. It's one thing to swap a dash or interior, but at what point is it simply for the sake of saying you did it. If that's someones goal, then I say go for it, but as for appearance....well, I guess it's just up to our individual opinions.

A nice thirdgen, and a decent fourth gen are pretty much the same price.

....but as always....it's your car.

Abubaca is valid in making his statement

How many times has the majority of the board condemned the EVO kit and say, If you want an exotic looking car, go buy one, don't try and make a 3rd Gen look like a different car

Although NEEDforSPEED is still keeping a large majority of 3rd Gen stlying, so it's gonna be a nice blend of the 2 generations, something that i think can be interesting if done right.....

By Ferrari, I was referring to the best ferrari car out there......The Ferrari F40, now that wouldn't get it's doors blown off by an LS1.....

That bumper does not match the lines of a Camaro in anyway. You're going to have a square front end but a round rear end. Not too mention the with of the gfx doesn't match up either.

But best of luck to you.

I dont think it will look good, even if done right. One thing I've never really liked about the 4th gen T/A is that rear bumper. It's HUGE compared to the rest of the car...just never looked quite right to me.

Now you put that rear bumper on a car that is overall much smaller-looking - its just not going to look quite right.

I hope I'm wrong.

because, well..... yea, i could easily make a LS1 blow the doors off a F40. they only make 478bhp and 426#s of Tq.

Stock F40 and a Stock LS1 are no comparison.

There are Ls1's out there that can blow the doors off of any supercar pretty much, being that some LS1's are in the high 8's now.
