window tinting question.

OK, I am finally starting to get serious about tinting my windows. I finally got around to putting my system in, and anybody can look down and see my amp and my subs. my question is, how far should I go. I was thinking like 5% on the back window. 35% on the side window. And 50% on the front window. I know this is not legal. Does anybody know how this would look? Also, post pics of your tinted windows so I can get and idea of what they look like on a thirdgen.

Is tinting legal in your state?? If not u might not be able to pass inspection. 20% is enough for tinting. Anymore than that and it might be too much.

I did 20% on the back and sides, and it was great; until I tried to drive at night sometimes. I learned to deal with it, but it was a little too dark for where I used to live (country, no street lamps).
I think most states say tint the back as dark as u like, and then the sides are supposed to be a little lighter (35% back, 20% sides)
Tinting the front window is illegal everywhere from what I remember, and it could be dangerous to look through in low-light situations. Just a thought.

How hard would it be to see out the back window at night if it was like 5%?

i have 5% on the back with a big bowtie sticker, and 35% on the sides, and i don't really have any problems seeing out.

If I put 20% on my back, would people be able to see in? I don't want my stereo to get stolen. Also, posting pictures would really help to.

I have a black 91' with 5% on the back and sides, and a piece of black vinyl sticker on the front top (about 7 inches) and I don't have any problems... at night, people have their headlights on anyway, which You can see just fine. As far as being able to see into the back, You can't see in even on a bright sunny day, which I like very much. I've experimented with all other tint levels over the years and the only problem I found with different levels on the front and rear is that I found I just didn't like the way it looked not matching. I would definately pick one and do the whole car in it. The dark tint really just takes some getting used to.. but it doesn't even bother Me at all, now.. You will run the risk of being pulled for it, though. I've been pulled a bunch of times... they just give Me a ticket and I drive up there (with the 5% still on) and pay the ticket. anyway.. just My silly 2cents... have fun!

Get yourself a security cover shade for the back hatch. I got it to cover up my system and it works great...can't see anything and I have no tint at all. Just a thought. I picked up one from the salvage yard for $40 with all hardware. Not too hard to put in either.

He's absolutly right... I'm using My shade, also.. a few months ago I stripped the old 5% off and had to ride around for a few weeks with none on till' I had time to put new tint on. Even with clear glass the shade covers the back hatch area... unless You had some big hatchback box or something..it's a geat theft-preventer.
