car keyed please step inside 4 details

ok i have a 1988 firebird formula i was out tonight and some punks keyed the hell out of my car. i am a cop in my town. i just got out of work andi stopped to pick my g/f up from where she works and i came out and who ever did it did a i guess u would say great job of drawing a anarky sing and the word pic all over it. now my question is when i take it to the insurance with my report # since the car is a fix me up the paint is faded and the spoiler is cracked like most are what are u they going to do say i am out of luck? i do keep full coverage on the car so they do have the fix the car right? i just hope that they dont say well the paint is faded on the roof and the hood we wont cover it. or we will cover to have the one part fixed on it and not the rest that would look terrible. please let me know if anyoe else has had this somular problem.
thanks

Well, I have a '91 RS and it was keyed not that long ago. Here in BC they will cover only the parts that were keyed, and if they don't match because of fade, your out of luck. It sucks so that's why I'm paying the remainder to get the rest painted.

I don't know about other places, but here, that's the way it is.

Hope that helps you at least a bit,
Jason

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I do believe that you may be outta luck. Most places will cover only the part(s) that were damaged, even if paint doesn't match because of fade. If part of your spoiler was keyed, but it was already cracked or broken, then they will state on the insurance estimate "PAINT ONLY.NO REPLACEMENT DUE TO PRIOR DAMAGE." MOST places are like that. I don't know how your ins co would handle this situation, but good luck.

hey man, it could be worse! In schoo, people keyed my truck five times one year! And they told me to pay for it myself! Otherwise my rates were going to go through the wall! The police, the insurance, and the school all shunned me, and left me to pay for the painting myself, on every single occassion! So bear down and get that sucker fixed! It could be worse.

I would touch it up with touch up paint, then wax it when dried... Itll look like $hit, but itll save the car from being rustoleum.....

In honesty, i never waited a day... i simply refused to let the a$$holes win like that, on all the occassions, i went straight to the body shop i used, didnt even go home first. Got it done that day, picked it up nexct morning. Went back to school and showed those jerks. My bank account was sore after the year excercise, but whats one to do? Some people in this world just suck like that.

Sorry to hear the news. Obviously, the person did it must know you. I hope you catch that jerk. Also, you may want to do some of the prep work yourself depending on what you decide to have done.
