FInalized my paint plans.

I know i said i wasnt going to post any details of what body work or color the car woudl be till its doen but decided to let out my colors. I found my painter and we spent about 2 hours looking over the car the other night and finally decided. It will be repainted the stock dark bright teal metallic but i am having the grand sport fender stripes and am adding the grand sport center stripe. I was debating about having the dual stripes down the center but want to keep the fender stripes and want somethign totall different from everyone else. THE different part is the fender stripes and the center stripe are going to be a silver pearl color and ghosted in. A ton of clear is gonna give it nice depth and i'm getting a bitchin deal on it. I have seen this guys work before with ghost falmes and its unreal. He comes highly recommended by the guy who runs hazardous concepts (the banner i had on my bird) Righ tnow i'm looking at about 2k-2500 and thats for gettina all the small door dings out and the full paint and then color sanding and buffing. Like he said my body is so straight that teh minor dings will all be filled and the car will be perfectly straight down the sides which is what i like. ANd its gonna be done in 2-3 weeks. Hoping to have all my other work and body parts on and get it in to him end of july or by august first. Now i cant wait.

i don't like the grandsport theme on camaros as the body lines really don't suit it however the fact your going ghost with the idea makes it interesting and it just might work. as for the "ton" of clear, becareful what you wish for...too much clear will make for a bad job.

good luck with it!

I'm not gonna call it a gs camaro or anything like that i just want somethign different. I love how the fender stripes look and the center stripe is jsut not something you see on any cars out here. Everyone even the ricers go with the dual stripes and thats what i'm trying to stay away from. The usual.

Its not going to be a "ton" of clear its gonna be just enough to bring out the depth of the paint and make it nice and shiny. He's not gonna go over board with it liek he said 4 or 5 coats will really be all it needs for a nice look.

depending on what clear he uses....good or bad....1-2 coats is enough for a deep job. if you have to put 4-5 coats your asking for trouble or you are using cheap clear which will wash off the car in a year.

i'm just using ppg....has worked out exceptionally well. i'll get some numbers on a few that they use at the shop so you can compare prices. which ever you get the best deal out of them is what i'd go with.

Well kandied i talked to my painter today. He is a ppg certified painter and like he said he has used all the brands out there but ppg is the best quality and that is what he will be using on mine from the metal up. Hood and new front end cost a little more than i thought so its probaly going to be mid august before it gets done.
