New grille in the SS Hood
Finally got around to creating a new grille for the SS hood. I just bought some random billet grille on ebay a couple of years ago (I believe it was for a GMC truck) that I chopped a piece out of. That's what I bought it for in the first place, just hadn't gotten around to it until now.

I can't decide if I like it or not. I don't know if I like chrome there but its definately well done and its great to see something different. I think I like it on principle alone

I like the craftsmanship of it, but I don't like the spacing.....personally I think it needs more strips of grill.
But if you like it, thats what matters

Looks great man, would be a great compliment if you could find some way to incorporate it in the grill of car... tho it looks a little clustered already

I hate those grills on the fronts of thirdgen camaros, but in the hood it looks fantastic, although I think I'd have painted it black to make it stand out less.
Now fix your stripes.

So, did you just take the black grill out and then mount it behind it?

that really would look good with my front grill, would be interested in a little detail on it's construction.

Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback guys. Im like several of you still deciding if I like it - and it is actually growing on me. Infact, on some angles it does real good (to me at least
)
I do agree with many of you with regards to what could be done. I think it could be balanced by something in the grille, but Im not too crazy about the full billet grilles, so Im thinking about cutting some pieces and making a "filler" where the foglights are - especially since they are half covered by that d@mn big licenseplate.
Now to answer some of your comments/questions:
nolanr0413,
Yeah, I know those stripes are bad but I doubt I'll put any money in fixing them right now, simply because Im considering a full repaint before long .
91rsowner4life,
At this point it is held in place simply by a fairly tight fit, but I will find some additional ways to fasten it to make sure it doesn't rattle.
FLYNLOW92rs,
Sure, I'll take some more pics of it to better describe how I made it. But in short - I just created a cardboard template for the opening and drew around it on the spare billet grille I had and cut it out. I then sanded/filed it to smooth the cuts and painted all cuts black again.
Jim85IROC,
That might be a good idea. Maybe I'll cut me another one and paint black to see how it turns out!
1992rs/ss,
I'll get down some details and pics shortly!
Im still deciding what to do around the perimeter of the grille/hole since the hole isn't perfectly shaped. I was considering cutting out the center of the original grille and just use the "rim" of it to both fasten the new grille and make a smooth edge - but Im kinda hesitant to cut that one since it is the only one I have.
Any ideas for what will look good for this purpose would be appreciated.
Thanks again for ALL comments, it is very helpful!

I'm half and half on how I like it on the front of Camaros, but I really like it in the hood. Very nice ride, Ken.
