Got some new stuff under the hood

Been awhiel since i have taken any pics of the rs under the hood. Changing the oil today and liking how clean it has stayed i finally took some pics.

since the last pics i now have

2 chrome valve covers on(not just one anymore)
new shiny black water pump
brand new coolant overflow and washer fluid resivor
140 amp alternator
cleaned up around the motor a little

I definately recommend getting new fluid resivors. I didnt realize how bad the stock ones were till i put the new ones on.

As soon as i get the thing painted i'm going to play with the extreme airlid form k+n with soem spacers and a taller filter with the extra hood room.

2.

For anyone thats gonna ask, the yellow ride in the back of the first pic is a 34 ford glass body with a built small block thats awaiting me welding up the roll cage stuff and finishing the interior and my dad and i have also decide to now supercharge it.

We've done all the work on that

not bad, just my opinion but the stickers and silver painted plastic pieces would be enough for me to move on if i were judging your car. $5 in sand paper and elbow grease with some cleaner would make that bay look spotless. black plastic would really be ideal but i can see the need to go different, just need to do more silver then to match. sort of looks like a last minute detail and throws alot off.

beyond that the new tanks and rest look great!

when youre missing your a/c and emission stuff it makes the engine compartment look so less cluttered...

nice cleanin though...and as mentioned that air cleaner is a good touch..

Very carefully. It is so tempting to get rid of the smog and a/c but in colorado and emmisions i have to have the smog crap. I have been considerign doing a/c delete for awhile seeing as how it doesnt work now and i'm getting along fine without it. It does get hot out here though and its a hard top so a/c will probaly stay. Thanks for the good comments

and by the way jensen. If you look careful its disquised as a power steering pump

did you paint that water pump in hi-temp paint, or is that just the paint from the company?

With my Stewart pump, I got the cast iron one, but then painted it in hi-temp clear coat. Looks good to this day.

Yea gunny i went over it with some good high temp gloss black paint, looks alot better than the 11 year old corroded one did.

I took your guys suggestions, seeing as how i am wanting to turn this into like a show stopper with my paint and all, the more i looked at the silver radiator support and front cover area with the perf. decals teh more i thought they do look tacky. Painted my radiator support piece gloss black today and i am super happy with it. Gives the motor some real contrast as opposed to the silver, it sticks out more now but makes the chrome really stand out also. I'm thinking of getting rid of the decals up fornt and doign that gloss black too. After all show cars dont have accel, b+m, ravin and fosgate decals right?

i think we shoudl start going by wwkd::: what would kandied do:hail:

I don't care for the stickers, but I kinda dig the silver. Nice touch!

only if the theme were followed through, the color is a bad enough contrast on it's own but in a theme would be ok.

i think the simple black on the plastic, or a brighter aluminum of sorts is 100% better then a mismatched base........at least it wasn't purple and teal.

i still think $5 in wet sanding on some of the tubing, repaint a few of those rusted areas and the bay would look really good.

here is mine back in the day with roughly $100 into it.

battery was relocated to the spare tire area.

as far as cleaning the process really starts with getting everything clean. metal can be polished, plastic can be painted and some things that are cheaper like coolant and wiper tanks are cheap enough to replace.

i use carb or brake cleaner on the plug wires and anything else that may get excessively dirty (except paint).

i use 50/50 simple green on the bay with a toothbrush, rag or otherwise where needed. i wrap up all electrical connectors i can and spray the bay down lightly with a garden hose to rinse off the simple green.

i usually do it before i wash the car in case of any simple green getting on the paint when i wash the car i can get it all off good.

after the simple green i use a variety of metal polishes for the various pieces to get out dirt and other things. i use paint polish on the paint obviously and just clean away wiping down things where need be.

everything else is just a little bit of common knowledge just cleaning where you can. for the bay above i used wet sanding and went over my a/c parts, strut plates, etc. that was metal and polished them to make it look nice and shiney. the cai and brackets you see for the hood, radiator and otherwise are all ceramic coated but could have been polished if you would want to.
