fender hitting tire

On my new Z28 I have 17x9.5 TT2s on the back with a 285/40/17 and sportlines. I drove it all the way from Nebraska to MD and there were quite a few bad roads inbetween. On the back right tire the inner fender lip has rubbed a few times going over some really big bumps and has sliced into the tire. Does anyone have some sugestions on what I can do to fix this problem? could I take a rubber mallet to the rough edge and bend it in a little? thanks for any advice.

I had to clearance my inner front fenders for my tires. I just used a small sledge hammer and whacked away. If its the lip of the fender that is hitting, you can have the edges rolled, normally without paintwork. Good luck.

Bro, Bro, Bro..... before any drastic changes check your "bump stops"!!! That was my problem w/ 17x9.5 in the rear TT II's! The shocks were also dead, the bump stops were my main problem! It figures, I spent like 500 plus dollars on shocks etc, and it was the $50 bump stops!

Like I mentioned in the other thread...

Get yourself a hefty grinder and go to town on anything that's rubbing....

I had to cut my fenders, but I do need bump stops as well. For what my tires cost I said F it and cut 'em. Mine are 275/40/17's .

I had to replace my springs and shocks nad bump stops. No more problems and I left my fender as is. Kinda glad because i probably would not of replaced the shocks had that not happened.

I just installed global west LCAs and relocation brackets yesterday, alsong with an adjustable panhard bar. And I do have bump stops. so I guess I will have to take it to a shop and have them role the fender? annyone know how much this will cost me? I really don't want to grind the inner fender down. keep the options coming. thanks

I think it cost my buddy around $100 to have his rolled. I wouldnt grind anything, just knock it in with a hammer. Its easy, takes about 10 minutes, and its effective.

Rolling a wheel well is easy. You just use a baseball bat and work the lip up a little at a time by prying against the tire.

You need an adj panhard bar to recenter the rear end, and rolling the fender lip helps too.

I'm runing 17x11's with 315x35x17's with no rubbing at all.

I did roll the fender lips and push in the inner fender wells to get them to fit with out rubing.
