Hey man I'm 42 goin on 17 OLD FART INDEED!!!! I feel pretty good about reading all this stuff on how alot of you obtianed your cars. I only wish I was as lucky as you when I was your age. All I had was hopes dreams and posters on the wall of camaros and firebirds. Now that I have the dream car I always wanted (many years later) I do what I can to help the young guys out as much as I can.... Kinda like a second father, irocbirdbuilder can vouge for that.

I got my 89 RS when i was 16 for $2000 (family discount). bought it off my uncle becuase he needed the money for a street bike. Now, one year later, there is about 20 more miles on it since i bought it. I get no breaks around here, the parents are makin me pay it off completely before i can drive it, plus the insurance and all that good stuff. I've been working on it a lot in the last year, most of my time is dedicated to polishing the aluminum wheels (not fun!) I should have it on the road in about a month, cant wait!

Ok my cars ive owned.
Age 16 in order

89 GT Turbo Probe
70ish Pinto
90 Grand AM
85 Camaro
84 Z28 Camaro
88 Fiero
67 Chevy PU
86 Nissan 4x4 PU
83 Ford Van
82 Z28 Camaro - For sale.

I started out with $1,300 that I bought the probe with. Traded the Probe after I blew turbo for a 88 YZ 125 a 90 KX 250 and the pinto I Drove the pinto and sold it for 200 and traded the KX 250 for some stero stuff. I bought the Grand AM for $600 then like a month later sold it for $800. Bought the First Camaro for 800. Then my dad really liked it so he gave me the money back and told me to buy another car. So I traded the stero stuff for the Fiero. Sold the Fiero and bought the 84 Z.... Drove it and then I lost 3 and 4th gear in it then traded it for the 67 Chevy PU. I traded the pickup for a 1990 ninja. Then i bought the nissan PU. Then i traded a boat that me and my dad built up for the 84 Camaro (same one I had before) and the Van. Camaro had all new Suspension, Rims and tires on it with a new tranny. Sold the Nissan.

As you can tell ive owned alot of cars for as young as I am. (17 now) But I did it all myself! I didnt have any help from mom or dad. I plan on keeping the 84 Z and the Probe.

you know, even being 16, i honestly can say that im enjoying actually spending my money on this car. i know most people think "dont you have something better to spend you money on other than a stupid car?" i just ask them if there is anything better...whats better than a group of 15-18 year old guys and girls working on a car? we have a project VW that weve all been working on for a few months now. its comming along pretty good. its nice to hve friends that will help out when i need help, like in a couple months, ill be putting on the GFX, maybe even next month itll be a pro-kit. theyre all willing to help me out because they know id do the same. we can all have fun, even if we arent working on a car, we can just hang out at a park or something. even though im workin 35 hours a week, i think it all works out pretty good, getting pain 1100$ a month isnt too bad actually

Car: 88 firebird
Engine: none yet heh
Transmission: 700r4
when i got my license i got this beauty for 1800, but sadly it is gone now, engine had major problems later on rather than dealing with it, already went through two trannies at this point, i got a different car and sold it for 400 bux and it wouldnt even start up any more. ah but i had some good times in that car, and some bad to heh, i
wish i could buy it back or see it, but have no clue where it is, if anyone thinks its their car let me know.

right now im building a 88 firebird i got for cheap and im puting a 406 in it so im back with the thirdgens again.

Why am I not surprised that in the thread full of 16yr olds everyone is calling stuff "gay"? I got my camaro when i was 19..i still am...I drove 5 hours to buy a beretta and when i got there it was gone... I've always wanted an f-body so me and my dad drove around the town till I found a car...I could've got more for my money..i.e. a v8....but the interior is next to flawless and it has low miles for an '89.....I didn't buy the car....yet..I just got a loan at the bank and paid my dad off....now I'm paying off the bank....I didn't buy my first car either....but my parent's put $10 a month in an account since i was like 6....So i only had $800 and my car was $200...I buy all gas and pay all insurance..anything I don't pay for myself is for christmas and stuff....I think I'm the only girl ever to ask for exhaust gaskets and ground fx for x-mas...

OMFG, i know exactly what you are talking about my family thinks my hood is a work bench my dad was cutting wood on it before but he had the blade set so it wouldnt go all the way through the board but still....then one rainy day i asked my brother to put my car on the other side of the garage and we only have 1 door so we had to sneak it to the other side and wouldnt you know hed hit the garage and put a big *** dent in my drivers side fender the same day i got the passenger fender but if i touch his firebird he goes crazy

. Most people think the 'Vette owners are the bigger dicks, but when I generalize, I tend to think most of the Camaro owners are as they tend to be 17 year old know-nothing-chip-on-the-shoulder-idiots.
someone on this site told me that cause i said there should be a room like iroczones lounge and i didnt see the part where they already tried it

I bought mine about a month after I turned 16 for 2k. Had to get it running right cause the fuel pump was going (I had no idea then WTF was going on). Then I fixed that and decided to buy wheels with my graduation money. Here is a picture of it then. I recently got it painted, its got a cowl hood now, shifter, 350ci, carb, ALL kinds of stuff. Its been an ongoing 3 year project.

454 blah. Just a .060 over with 66 vette heads, 11:1, vic jr. intake, crane bumpstick and a filter on top. Some hooker ****ty headers top it off, makes it somewhat of a runner, nothing to brag about.... Good enough for me, fastest car in school.

Well it began a year ago i was 15 had 2g from working my @ss off. My dad had an 82 Z28 let my bro drive it and he totalled it. That was back in 97. So my dad and i were looking for one. His boss knew a guy that 4 of them and was selling 2. A 90 Iroc finished, and a 86 Iroc witch didnt run, needed paint, but the interior was imaculet, had new tires (but cheap) and the brakes were done(pads, roters, and LF caliper, and hoses all GM). Well not enough for the 90. So i got the 86 b/c i wanted a project car. Paid 900. Today i have it running, preparing for paint soon, and only have 2300 in it w/ price of car. Pic of car after it came off the trailer.

i'm 15 an have an 86 305 LG4. i snagged it for 600. the egines in great condition but body an interior need a lil work. i'm gonna stay with the 305 since it runs, an go bigger once the engine dies an i get a lil more experience driving a quick car. i dont have my license yet an dont wanna have too fast of a car cuz i know it'll get me in trouble or kill me. i had to attend a funeral of a friend who killed himself in an 96 supra driving too fast. so i'm gonna be a lil bit more cautious.

Car: '84 Berlinetta

i bought my '84 berlinetta a few months ago (still 17) for $200 from my friend. the oxidized paint with clear coat pealing off will eventually go from red to gloss black with lime green racing stripes, how sweet is that. unfortunatly the beast dosnt run yet, but im going to buy a bare 350 block, bore it and stroke it, then build from there. my first car was a 99 or 2000 KIA sephia POS i know, but thanks to and old man that could see straight that got totaled. now i drive a 98 mazda 626, which i plan to sell when i finish rebuilding my berlinetta.

I'm 17 right now. I bought a Dodge DAytona Shelby Z at age 15, but I wanted RWD. So I took a tradeoff and got a 87 Firebird 2.8 5 spd. Then I wanted my horsepower back, so I got the 86 TA. Not much done to it in the 2 months I have owned it, but I have some pretty big stuff on the way...

was 16 when i got my 84 z28 with 86000 original miles and 10k on a rebuild from my dads bud for 750 bucks. Put all sorts of work and money into it until I left for the army when i was 18 (al my hard earned cash) came back and started school and since the army paid for my tuition the school decided it wasnt necessary to give me money....so my cash went to helping my dad...sadly no more improvements. 2003, some rich bish from texas caused a 5 car accident on 95 in ct, needless to say their lawyers kept them from paying even though the police report held them responsible. Now I have an 89 rs, much of my money that i have had left over (mainly from saving gas money..hehe) has gone into restoring the inside and improving overall performance. Sadly little things come up like bad alts, belt, battery, shocks, etc... kept me from doing anything this summer, that and school started up again this fall. And just this past weekend some really good thieves broke into my car and stole all my stereo equipment. By good i mean they happened to have those star wrenches on them to unbolt the bracket that held my stereo in since i had it so you couldn't just slip it out, so they were prepared for everything, that and they knew exactly how to bust my lock and unlock the door...well anyway, now I have to deal with that....BUT no worries, insurance fixes the door damage and im back on my feet. Plus my grandfather said he was going to give me 300 bucks for a new stereo setup, i told him i would probably just buy headers for my 2.8 v6...he said whatever...we'll see...so that's my life story as a thirdgen owner...

ROCK ON! and check me out round good ol UCONN if ur in the ct area

Dave

I bought my first third gen when I was sixteen, a 1991 RS 305 TBI 700-R4, for 1500$ Painted it Viper Metallic Blue... Loved and cherished that car for the longest time... Had every single option, with working A/C, leather, everything. Then I drove a 1990 Iroc Z 350 tpi, and was hooked by the power, the next day I put up the RS for sale (it had some brake problems), 3000$ price tag. Took three months to sell it, I wouldnt budge on the price, so I got 3000$ for it.

I then bought my current car, a 1991 Z28, 350 TPI with a T-5 tranny. Taught myself how to drive it the first day, then I ran into electrical problems, turned out to be the alternator so I replaced that, and now it runs fine, except for the fact that somethings clunking around whenever I accelerate or brake (thought it was the torque arm bushing, but it wasnt).. im thinkin its the tranny mount now. In anycase, the car looks like horse crap, needs paint, and is sorta rusting minorly now. That's all gonna be fixed though.. hehe.

Here's a pic of the RS
