Many of us use the silver, screw type hose clamps. Usually there is a large amount of clamp that sticks up past the screw, waiting to slice your finger when you slip doing something else (I did that yesterday). So I marked the clamp to just the correct size, took off the clamp and clipped the excess off. Took the now really sharp end to the grinder, rounded the edge and made them finger friendly. Now no more cuts and it makes the engine bay look much nicer without an inch of clamp excess sticking up everywhere.
A free modification! Ricers will tell you it's worth probably 5hp in weight savings alone

Chuck, the wife was out of town so I had plenty of time to fiddle with "her" car. I also got the first coat of paint on the inserts of my 90 IROC rims that are going on with the next tire rotation. And being today is a holiday for us Government slugs and she is still in Maine, looks like its clear coat time for those rims.

Just one comment. Although it might look better, when you need to remove then re-install the hoses, you're going to have a bitch of a time getting the clamp started if there isn't enough length there.
