MY POOR CAR WAS VANDELIZED

My car was vandelized a couple weeks ago. It had a brand new paint job on it. All of the windows were broke out of it. No apparent body damage was seen though.
I have to replace the rear hatch glass. We bought a used one with the hatch lid still attached. I thought about haveing it painted and just put on, but there is one problem. my car is black with PEARL white racing stripes on it. So if it is to be repainted I'll have to repaint the whole car. The question is, How do I remove the hatch glass from the hatch lid without breaking the glass?

I have two convertibles but used to have 91 and 85 Z28 and I parted out a 92. I think the metal unbolts from the glass down at the bottom. Pull the interior plastic trim piece off and I bet you'll find some bolts. The hinges bolt thru the glass. Just don't over tighten when reassembling.

The hatch lid, the dealy with the spoiler on it, is glued to the glass. If put in a bind, the hatch glass will shatter. Is there a trick to releasing the glue from the glass?

At school on a derby car we made we got mechanics wire, wrapped it around big wooden dowels to hold onto, we put a small hole in the glue to fit the wire through, then got someone on the inside and used it as a saw. It took a while cuz the wire breaks once in a while but we got the windows out without breaking them.
