Someone Rearended me!!!!!

Some guy that my mom knows, hit me in the drivers side corner of my bumper. theres nothing more then one big gouge and paint scrapes. Best of all i was not at fault at all. I was turning when the light was green and everything he just was going to fast and playing with his radio at the same time.

His car is ok however, he umm needs a new hood, bumper, headlight, and fog light. His car was hurt. My bumper was off alignment but thats all. I'm good. HE offered me $500 i will recieve payment very soon since my mom knows his mom/aunt/him. plus i know where he works and all... so....

here are the pics,

I'd get it looked at by a pro and get an estimate...

...then tell him what he can offer you.

Sucks though, good luck getting it fixed mang.

tail lights uhhhh...... legal system got mad at them and made me fix them. OR else a $9 ticket would be a $65 ticket. Had to get the acetone out to pass inspection.

that damage is actually not too bad, as long as the bumber isn't cracked then all it should need is to be repainted, and most body shops i know charge around $300 for that. but then again you said the bumper was a little out of alignment so maybe a little more. but definitely get it estimated first.

definitely get the estimate first. once he pays you its technically an agreement and if you find out something else is wrong and it'll cost a bit more, you're pretty much screwed because you agreed to take that payment.. just my $.02

by the way, I have a TA that exact same color and I just got rearended last week, haha.
I went to a dealership and they quoted me 900.
..Yep.

the rear bumpers on our car seem to be pretty durable. Mine survived a spinout on a banked hairpin turn our on fish ranch road in berkeley. The rear slid into the relativly soft hillside and did barely any damage. It felt friggin awesome sliding backwards down hill though.

You've probably got a hell of a lot more damage than what you're able to see there going buy his car folding up pretty good. Like others have said, take it to a shop.

Take the 500 (which isn't enough), and don't fix the damage. Just use the money to fix your exhaust and redo your tail lights. Or, you could save the money and pay for your next speeding ticket. I know, you can redo your entire interior in doeskin and get some leather dice to hang from the mirror. Get a quote from a body shop and stop wasting time cuz your mom knows his mom/aunt/him and his second cousin twice removed. If his car is ok how come he needs a new hood, bumper, headlight and fog light? You should have called the police because the damage was over 500 dollars.

damage is over 500 , do yourself a favor call the cops and take it in for an estimate, if his car is that badly damaged yours is too. i'd be surprised if your frame isn't slightly tweaked

You could always just make a new bumper out of 2x4's and cover them in fur, it would be pimp

Seriously you should definitly get an estimate from a body shop, you'd be suprised at how much things can cost. What I thought was a $300 scratch in my car turned out to cost $1000.

Labor will probably be $500.00. When my car got hit by my friend I drove him imediately to the body shop so he could see the estimate with me. That way there was no

Get an estimate, even if he knows your mom. She will probably tell you the same thing.

He had to turn up his radio to hear it over your ghetto exhaust.

Your car is probably totaled now.

ok this is the thing i work at a body shop and we deal big in fbodies. our cars are usually totaled around 500-800 dollars damage at least in my area. dont tell the insurance i deal with em everyday and if u plan on pocketing a lil cash its not gonna happen. insurance cos work with the shop so if ur payin 525 the insurance wont give u 1200. they give u an estimate for the shop u go to. and dont go to the shop they recommend. its just cheaper for them. your better doin it without insurance but thats just me. i got rearended and fixed my car with a new used bumper for 300 but thats cause i did the work myself.

Shane,

Consider yourself initiated.

Or if you listen to jeff foxworthy, "My wife ate a couple hamburgers, initiate a bag o potater chips."

But seriously, if you go to a shop and get an estimate, they could find a lot of things that "need" to be replaced. When I was rearended in my corolla, the only damage to my car was a crooked bumper, and I can't even tell it's crooked. But they cut me a check for replacement of the bumper, which I used to pay off my car.

my mom got rearended on the blvd around here maybe 5 years ago from some *** from flordia visiting up here in philly.

long story short he was going about 30 and just hit her for no reason she was stoped at a red light. she had no insurance. and she said she did and she ended up getting 600 bucks from the other guys insurance company.

she was in a 2.8liter 86 camaro (pos i really mean it too)180k abused on it. her bumper barely had a scratch on the car im sure the stuff behind the cover was smashed but you couldnt tell it was hit. and his car needed hood front and i think front right and front left pannels it was pretty beat up.
